We were on the same cruise & I disagree...... It was VERY, VERY Good!:D The Piazza & the Christmas decorations were a real WOW for us. Service was excellent, staff fun and the food was good. New Horizon Court setup is sooo much better....Aft pool is a nice area and the Retreat pool is so relaxing. Look forward to sailing on the Regal again.

Oh, can't wait!!

To Mom33 and others who have sailed both Royal and Regal, are there any noticeable changes other than the aft pool?

One noticeable change was in the Princess theater. The Regal had access to the rows of seats on both ends. On the Royal, the seating ended at the walls with only one way in from the center aisles. We were pleased to see we could enter the rows from the side walls on Regal.

We were on this cruise. Embarkation was a horror story and Princess really needs to get their act together. The ship itself is beautiful and our cabin was great. Food was ok specialty dining was great. The retreat pool was fantastic too bad they do not have one of those on all the ships. Dining staff in the Symphony dining room were wonderful and the staff on the ship as a whole were great. Did not like the idea of people smoking in the casino therefore visited the casino only once. Even though there are air purifiers you could still smell the smoke.

Have fun everyone going on the Regal!!!!

Was this area full of chair hogs or did you find it easy enough to find a lounge here when you wanted? Is there shaded areas and sunny areas?

Wondering if the areas is 'Packed" with chars or if it's easy to get around without putting my butt into someome else's space to sit down :D A big peeve of mine. I had a guy lose his balance while getting out of his chair and he landed on my leg, his chair was so close. He was so embarrased and apologetic and since I was snoozing, I had quite a scare.

When we were on the Royal last year the retreat pool was cold. I spoke to an attendant and he said it was because the ship was Green and they were conserving energy. Huh? What's the point of having a pool that's too cold to relax in ? Was the retreat pool cold on the a Regal?

Embarkation was terrible hundreds of people and if you needed a wheel chair you were told to wait on a bench and there was no one to help anybody! There were plenty of lounges in the retreat pool area and there are shaded areas and sunny areas. The water was very cold and many people fell getting into the pool because the steps were VERY slippery! Never went to the regular pools or the aft pool. This location was ideal and quiet!

We did not have any issues with embarkation but we had preferred boarding so I am not sure if that made any difference or not.

The Retreat pool is very nice and sat there when we came back early from Princess Cays, plenty of lounge chairs. On the 2nd to last sea day we got up there around 9:00 am and the chair hogs were out in full force. Not that we couldn't find a lounge but there were a lot of chairs with just towels, no books or personal items etc. We sat for 2 hours and never saw anyone return to these lounges. It really is annoying when people do that.

The steps in the pool were slippery, saw a couple people slip and there were officers that came and were taking reports from people.

Glad everyone had a good experience on the Regal - it is truly one of our favorite ships along with the Royal. Also nice to not see those nit picky comments that some feel obligated to post instead of taking that time to enjoy what is good about the voyage.

We never had a problem getting a lounge even on sea days of course we got out there early and spent the day. I was at the pool when a lady slipped and fell down the stairs. She reported it and came over and asked me about it and had me fill out a form. Some one called my cabin later that day and wanted to confirm her statement and mine. Otherwise the cruise was great!

We were on the Regal this summer for the Grand Mediterreanean cruise. While we were docked in Athens and enjoying time at the Retreat pool one of our friends slipped getting into the pool and fell. She ended up breaking her leg badly and having to be taken off the ship, having surgery at a hospital in Athens and being hospitalized there for over a week! Thank goodness for trip insurance!
