Rough Seas ?

I'm sailing out of New Orleans on Dec 28th with my family and I was wondering if anyone experienced rough seas during that time. I checked the weather during that time and it says thunderstorms. In my mind I'm thinking rough seas. I have severe motion sickness and I'm tempted to get the patch for this trip. If anyone has experience with the seas during time please let me know. Thank you

We are also departing that day on the Dawn. We departed last year at the same time on Canival Sundance. It was smooth sailing the entire trip.

How can anyone predict how the seas will behave days from now?

 

Just go ahead and get the patch if you already know you are prone to sea sickness because it's already playing on your mind;)

It's quite possible that the seas may be smooth as glass, however, why take the chance? There are so many products available that can alleviate the symptoms and thereby increase the possibility of a wonderfully enjoyable cruise experience. If you're unfamiliar with what's available, I'd talk to my

pharmacist or doctor and get some advice.

We are departing the same date. I have been watching weather models to see what weather is going to be at the ports still to early to predict winds looks like a split jet stream.

Not a thing to worry about .

 

Dawn handles rough seas very well .

We ran strait into hurricane Fay on dawn a couple months ago . Bow spray was reaching our deck 8 hulled balcony .

 

With seas well over 20 feet it was not that bad of a ride . :D

My wife uses meclizine (OTC Bromine). One pill the night before the cruise, then 2 or 3 a day during the cruise. Take before feeling motion sickness. They work great for her. As others have said, no way to accurately predict weather or wave activity very much in advance. Unfortunately, of our many cruises, the trip out of New Orleans was the most rock and roll ride we've ever had. Exiting the Mississippi into the Gulf, it began. Lasted through the night and half way through the first day. However, the return trip was smooth as glass. Just can't tell.

I use Bonine as well, on cruise ships, small boats, and Bermuda's Pink Busses. They tend to drive fast around curvy roads, which can bring on motion sickness. Bonine works like a charm.

Is there a difference between Bonine and Dramamine? Just different brand names? We have always used Dramamine but just curious if this Bonine is more effective?

Bonine doesn't make you as drowsy, less side effects. Take it before bedtime and you are typically good for the next day.

Same here - it was smooth seas all the way.

1st cruise I had motion sickness but knew that I loved cruising

2nd cruise I took Bonine the night before my cruise and every night of the cruise.

We had water sloshing out of pool and in spa pool... I loved it !

No sickness and slept like a baby.
