cynbar Posted December 27, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2014 Yikes --- I just looked at the listing on Celebrity's website about the premium beverage package, and it no longer lists Johnny Black. This is DH's drink of choice and has always been available on our previous Celebrity cruises. Does anyone have any recent experience with this? I'm going to have to get busy preparing him if his favorite drink isn't available.
Rob the Cruiser Posted December 27, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 27, 2014 They had JWB on Infinity eastbound Panama Canal (Nov 19) and Eclipse exotic southern Caribbean (Dec 7).
Rare ghstudio Posted December 27, 2014 #3 Share Posted December 27, 2014 while things can change from ship to ship and cruise to cruise, JWB is generally included in the Premium package. Remember inclusion is based on the price of the drink...not the list of liquors that are shown as examples.
darrencantwait Posted December 27, 2014 #4 Share Posted December 27, 2014 I would be VERY surprised if they stopped carrying JWB.
cynbar Posted December 27, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted December 27, 2014 Thanks everybody for your reassurances. It may sound odd, but JWB is just the brand that DH likes, and he's a creature of habit.
mbw1024 Posted December 27, 2014 #6 Share Posted December 27, 2014 Husband had it many times on Summit week of 12/6. Available at every bar, including Martini.

cynbar Posted December 28, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted December 28, 2014 Johnny Walker Blue would be nice but we're not expecting that! Black will be sufficient, glad to hear it should be available on our cruise.
Flatbush Flyer Posted December 28, 2014 #10 Share Posted December 28, 2014 Time to switch to single malts? Lagavulin anyone? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
ChucktownSteve Posted December 28, 2014 #11 Share Posted December 28, 2014 (edited) I won't go below Black. I'd rather drink water than Red. St. Maarten liquor stores sold JW Blue for $99/ltr two years ago. Much cheaper than St. Thomas. I loaded up on Blue, Gold & Black. :D If you stop at a US VI port, you can bring in 5 ltrs pp duty free plus one rum made in USVI. So I did. BTW if you buy one extra bottle and declare it, they won't charge you duty because the paperwork is much more than the tax they'll collect. ;) Has your DH tried Gold or Platinum? I like them better than Black and cheaper than Blue. I think I may actually prefer Platinum over Blue that one bottle I had. But I'll have to sample more to be sure. :p Edited December 28, 2014 by ChucktownSteve
twin123185 Posted December 28, 2014 #12 Share Posted December 28, 2014 Platinum not worth the money. However stay with single malts! Too bad my faves are never on cruise ships. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
ChucktownSteve Posted December 28, 2014 #13 Share Posted December 28, 2014 Platinum not worth the money. However stay with single malts!. That's YOUR opinion. Scotch preference is about flavor and palate. You should stay with Dewers if you think Johnny Walker isn't worth the money.
wally_bushy Posted December 28, 2014 #14 Share Posted December 28, 2014 (edited) Lagavulin... now you're talking. Even better my sons don't like it so it lasts longer Edited December 28, 2014 by wally_bushy
twin123185 Posted December 28, 2014 #15 Share Posted December 28, 2014 (edited) I said Platinum not. Gold certainly is! I attend whiskyfest every year in NYC and of course it's my opinion but I am not alone. Read the reviews on the many websites out there. I make no apologies for being a single malt snob. I have tried hundreds of different bottles over the years so please allow me my opinion. By the way JW gold only worth it at duty free shops not at my local store's prices! That's my opinion too. Can you say HIGH NJ taxes above high Federal taxes? That's why I stock up in the islands. Edited December 28, 2014 by ChucktownSteve
twin123185 Posted December 28, 2014 #17 Share Posted December 28, 2014 No kidding!!! It's amazing how much I save on ships/islands/airport duty free shops! Cigarettes too - that can pay for the trip.
