Jasjas Posted January 4, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 4, 2015 My friend and I, two ladies in our mid sixties, will be on Norwegian Sun in September,,,from Seward to Vancouver. What do the electrical outlets on the Sun and in New York, Anchorage and Vancouver look like? My concern is just to bring the right adapters for charging our camera batteries and cellphones. We are from South Africa and are very excited about our first visit to the USA and Canada and our Alaska cruise. Sincere thanks. Jasjas.
garycarla Posted January 4, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 4, 2015 All the NCL ships and most others have at least one plug with U.S. standards.
roger001 Posted January 4, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 4, 2015 Out of curiosity, I looked at electrical outlets as used in South Africa. I don't remember seeing them. Also, you use 220 volts and the US type sockets are 110. I did see many adapters available on Amazon. However, I don't know how that handles the voltage difference. Here is a link I looked at showing both type sockets and some basic information on the differences. If the equipment you need to use have inexpensive chargers, you might be better just buying some US types either on line or in the US. http://whatplug.info/from/southafrica/to/usa

don't-use-real-name Posted January 5, 2015 #5 Share Posted January 5, 2015 NCL SUN Mini-suite 1010 SB ANC-YVR 7/2013 Looking over my photos I note the writing desk vicinity of the TV has 1 220V and 2 110V outlets Behind one of the mirrored vanity cabinet doors was a 110V outlet I used for my shaver. Suggest you bring a triplex 110V plug or a mini circuit breaker strip if you have lots of electronic stuff needing charging. Beware that your cabin steward may need to use one of the outlets to operate his vacuum or other cleaning gear so leave one open for his use. Bring a 220V multipoint plug if they make such a thing. Then you would have that issue covered. Need more help information while on the ship ask your cabin steward.
