rascaldog Posted January 9, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 9, 2015 The Jewel is a great ship, I especially like the Great Outdoors at the rear of the ship for breakfast. They have an exceptional crew running the Casino. The entertainment is top notch. The ship size is just right, I have really enjoyed my time on the Jewel. With the cold weather around I wish I was getting on it tomorrow.
roger001 Posted January 9, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 9, 2015 Great Outdoors, Spinnaker Lounge, nice buffet (has island station design), bridge viewing room port side, deck 11, all the way forward. We'll be on her again next week. She's very similar to the Pearl, our favorite. That class of ships are about perfect for us.
Spanky My Posted January 10, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted January 10, 2015 to those that replied. Anyone else care to list their best area's on the jewel that they have enjoyed recently?
lisakoivu Posted January 10, 2015 #6 Share Posted January 10, 2015 I think the staff on the Jewel is the best on the fleet. Bar City is a my at place to hear music and have drinks and snacks served by the most attentive bar servers on the fleet. I just love the whole feel of the ship - big enough to have lots of places to explore, but small enough to find your way around. I can agree enough about the superiority of the island style of buffet serving. No crowds. It's my favourite ship.
T_Bone2012 Posted January 10, 2015 #7 Share Posted January 10, 2015 We board the Jewel in about 5 hours! I have sailed on small ships and medium sized (RCCL Navigator of the Seas). I will let you know how it compares in a week or so!

shealea Posted January 10, 2015 #9 Share Posted January 10, 2015 Don't miss the made-to-order crepes. The crepe station is just past the Garden Buffet. I'm not sure on the hours offered. Maybe 5:00 pm they start? Ask to get the exact times. Yummy.

Agree for the most part, but I prefer the Jade over the Pearl....The Jewel and the Jade have the secondary lounge forward on deck 7, with the shops in the aft end....the Pearl is more like a twin of the Gem, with the layout reversed... I also like the lighter chairs in the Garden Cafe (buffet) on the Jewel over the Gem....much easier to get into a seat than the overweight ones... I will let you know how it compares in a week or so! Please keep your "Freestyle Dailies" to share with us who are leaving on the Jewel soon! I enjoy having a heads up of the activities on the ship! Thank you! Love the crepes, love the staff, love the deck parties, love the fun at night in the Spinnaker Lounge, the island buffet style is very effective, make reservations for a large dinner party, get to the shows a bit early to get a good seat. ranran87 Posted January 10, 2015 #14 Share Posted January 10, 2015 Just came off the Jewel today. I liked O'Sheehan's pub (just above the atrium), because it was a great place to watch the NFL playoff games on the giant TV, and because their appetizers made a great snack--the mozzarella sticks, the spinach dip, and the chicken wings were all good. I also liked the Maltings bar/champagne bar (they connect) because they had a tasty bar nut mix and sometimes hot popcorn. (Can you tell I'm a drinker?) :D Spinnaker was a good quiet place for a terrific view forward out of the wind during the day, and I liked the participation games (sing it to win it, battle of the sexes, etc.) and the dancing at night. Liked the music played by Great Ideas, but wish they mixed in more country. The rotation seemed Latin dance heavy, but we Texans like the two-step and polka. buckirj1 Posted January 10, 2015 #15 Share Posted January 10, 2015 I like that the Jewel doesn't have an enormous atrium that's 10 decks high (well, that might be an exaggeration). The Jewel's atrium is just the right size. I liked hanging out in the deck 6 bar area near the beer bar (Maltings?). Wonderful, comfortable chairs...like buttah! jasbo49 Posted January 11, 2015 #16 Share Posted January 11, 2015 I like that the Jewel doesn't have an enormous atrium that's 10 decks high (well, that might be an exaggeration). The Jewel's atrium is just the right size. I liked the atrium too. It was fun instead of being too "grand." My favorite thing, though, was the buffet. With lots of islands and choices and "action stations," it was the best buffet we've ever seen. Jim

Cruise Lovin' Gal Posted January 11, 2015 #18 Share Posted January 11, 2015 What I liked best: The Warm Chocolate Volcano dessert in the MDR. Soooo yummy! I had this a few times over the course of the cruise. ;) Jean Pierre's magic/comedy show Le Cirque Bijou show Duo Deja Vu show The lively, fun photography staff -- esp.
