Within 15 minutes last night:

Purchased a $500 Carnival Gift Card (E-Card) through Verizon Wireless Smart Rewards Program for $450;

Booked a November Carnival Glory cruise using the $500 e-card as the deposit payment;

Got $50 On Board Credit with the Early Saver booking.

Saved $50 on the gift card and got $50 OBC----

Win-Win!! :)

Don't you love the feeling! Thanks to these boards, I discovered these cards and early saver. Between the 2, I've saved $1500 on my family's cruise this summer (3 cabins) and will save even more since I plan to use gift cards for onboard accounts. The topper is, I put it all on my Southwert Airlines credit card and I'm earning free airline tickets to boot!

I feel your joy! :o

First time cruiser here....

How do you use the egifts cards on the ship? Is it linked into your onboard account? Can you use it for the bottomless bubbles for the kids?

Mahalo!

Just print the card and bring it to guest services. They'll apply the credits to your onboard account.

I tried to do this.. Apparently their egift cards were down... So they took $450 out of my checking -didn't end up with a gift card and I had to wait a week for it to go back into my checking account. Wasn't happy. I figured I'll spend a little extra money to avoid that hassle again! BUT glad to hear someone had some success with this.. Maybe I'll chance it again for the remainder of our cruise payment.

I bought $150 to use for my up coming cruise. I had a problem back in December that the transaction put a hold on my card but website showed an error. At least they got it fixed and I was still able to redo the purchase for my last cruise. We aren't looking for too much spending money on this trip, we were given $100 OBC, this will allow for a few drinks. We will carry a little cash for the casino, I think.

This happened to me the same day as you. I had a $500 pending transaction for three days.

But I just tried it again and it's working!! Woo Hoo!!!!

Has anyone ever booked their cruise using Verizon points on the Verizon website? It saves me a little over $100 but I'm nervous bc I usually book thru Carnival.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Just buy the egift cards through verizon and then use them on your booking through carnival site. Then it still all goes through carnival.

I had trouble with Verizon's website last week, had a couple attempts with a credit card so I had pending transactions and no gift card (it would say sold out at the very end). I called Verizon and was told they were having trouble with the site and to try again the next day...then had trouble the next day and called them again and they said to try a different web browser. I was initially using Firefox, chanced to Chrome and it worked without any issue. Meanwhile Verizon said the hold on my Amex card would drop after 2 days, and when it didn't after 2 days I contacted Amex and they said it would take 2 weeks. So I'm still waiting on the pending charges to drop, but at least it was a credit card, not my bank account! (gotta earn them airline miles!)

This is what made me so mad! Cause it tied up my bank account, not that I didn't have the money, but when your cash is in limbo it's not a good feeling lol. I wonder why a different browser would work though. Strange. I tried using my citi credit card points for the egift card too and it didn't work either. Seems as though the egift card system is just too glitchy.

We have had a great experience so far with the Verizon Rewards eGift cards.

We bought them to pay off our cabins, excursions, and pre-paid gratuities (once the PVP added them to our account).

Plan on buying some more in March to take with us for OBC. So far we have saved $450 with the cards we have purchased, not bad!

I even used the Smart Rewards site to book my Budget rental car for Orlando to Port Canaveral and saved 14% (much less then Hertz).

Bought two $100 e-cards today for $90 each to use for purchase of a cabana at Half Moon Cay---paid Verizon Wireless with the Southwest Visa card to get the Rapid Rewards points.

Saved $20.00 by using the e-cards to pay most of the cost for the cabana---put the balance on the Southwest Visa card.

We're loving this program through Verizon Wireless!!
