looking for private guide in Lisbon and Barcelona

We received wonderful recommendations last year for private tour guides in Budapest and Prague. We're going on an AMA Douro River cruise next September and need recommendations for private guides in Lisbon and Barcelona. Thank you in advance!

We used Barcelona Day Tours in Barcelona.

Barcelona has one of the best HOHO systems in Europe. You really don't need a guide as it is also wonderfully walkable. Do your homework and decide where you would like to spend time and the HOHO buses will take you to those places saving you time and money.

Both cities are excellent for organized tourists.

Check out Viator.com. They are a pain in the butt to deal with, with absolutely no concept of customer service, over the internet and in scheduling the (any) tours. However, the guides do a very good job once you get there.

a third vote for doing it yourself. Easy to use bus and HoHo is a great deal.

 

We went on a day trip from Lisbon to Sintra using the train. The Lisbon train station is easy to find!

We had a private tour in Lisbon. We visited Queloz Palace then went over the mountain and visited the Palacio National, then to Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril. We had lunch in Cascais at Ristorante Castro.

He also picked us up from the airport when we arrived in Lisbon. It was an absolutely amazing trip and tour getting to see many sites, even outside Lisbon. He will arrange for whatever sites you want to see. We also went to Obidos, which is a MUST SEE. He goes off the beaten path.

 

We loved it, and highly recommend him.
