Exactly right, you can take the cash from the casino cashier. It is better to pay the 5% fee than to lose the OBC. We have never had a problem doing this, and just withdrew cash on our February cruise. :)

 

There was a line in the cruise documents that said the OBC could not be used in the casino. I don't know if that is always there as I never really look at anything other than the Setsail Pass. It is also there on the cruise ticket for our April cruise and most of that OBC is refundable.

That's what I wondered. I read somewhere on here that some line does that, maybe NCL? I asked that question on the main boards and someone responded that they could give it a code where it would not come off your OBC total. I don't think RCL is that IT savvy. :rolleyes:

It would be very simple. Just like in grocery stores, different types of items are coded with different tax rates. On the ship, certain charges (drinks, etc.) would be coded to be reducible by any type of OBC, others (cash advances) would only be reducible by refundable OBC. It's just a matter of time before they take this away too.

I did not look for them that often. But I do remember seeing them in the Schooner Bar and at the bar in the casino. Anytime on board we've needed one and they were not visible we would just ask.

Hi and thankyou for your fabulous review! I am doing the exact same trip next year so found your review particularly helpful. I have been trying to find out what passenger numbers / crowds are like but can't seem to find that anywhere. I know it was a while ago now, but I was wondering, since you cruised at the same time of year that I will be, if you can recall what the crowds were like generally on the ship. Did you have to line up much for the lifts or restaurants / bars? Did you have any trouble booking the shows and activities you wanted? Any advice you could give greatly appreciated.

 

I hope you've been doing your core strengthening and your back hasn't given you anymore hassle :-)

I am doing better, no back problems lately. :)

 

The ship was full, they rarely run below full capacity. That being said there were few long lines, maybe in the promenade shops on the at sea days. We booked shows and specialty restaurants prior to the start of the cruise so no issues there. That should open up for your cruise a couple months before. The Diamond lounge was crowded just before 6 so we would head over to the Schooner bar and got service right away. It never seems like there is 6000 passengers on board.
