Change in Wine Packages ???

When we were aboard Prinsendam for the Holiday Cruise, we were told by our wine attendant that there would be changes made to the Navigator and Admiral Wine Packages, starting with the next cruise. This was confirmed by the Cellar Master, and he told us some ships had already switched to the "new packages" for 2015.

They both said they were not at liberty to share just what the changes would entail.

Has anyone seen the "new" packages?

I just checked for our next cruise, and I think maybe there have been a few changes to the wine packages. Seems like there are more choices than in the past - but I do recognize some of the names from previous cruises. They are listed under the "Indulgences" if you have a cruise booked.

It will be interesting to try out some of them!

I wonder why, if it was such a big secret, they let the cat half out of the bag:D. I'd rather them say nothing (Hal not you).

Thank you for prompting me to look again -- I tried as soon as we returned, but nothing different was showing. Yes, some are "carry-overs", and some others look interesting. Just a bit over two months until we get to try them.

Totally agree, especially since they are now on the web-site. Perhaps they were afraid that I might ask for "sample tastings"

We had the new wine packages back in September on the Amsterdam. I guess it is taking HAL time to roll them out on all the ships. In November on the Noordam we had the old package; but were told that the new package was to be unveiled on the susequent cruise. Good thing to, as most of the wines on the old packages were unavailable and the couple next to us in the MDR was very unhappy about that.

I am quite sure POA1 had the new wine packages on his cruise on the Nieuw Amsterdam. Those choices are on http://www.halfacts.com if you want to take a look (click the general info tab and scroll down to beverages and NA)

Yes, those are the new ones. We were on the Nieuw Amsterdam is mid November and again in early December. The wine packages changed in between. They still had some bottles left over from the old packages, so we wound up with a bigger selection. I don't know how long the leftovers will be in stock, but it never hurts to ask your wine steward.

Thanks, kazu, I can now see the new wine listings on our reservation for our Oosterdam cruise in April.

The Cellar Master told us that some ships were starting to offer the new wines, which made it even more surprising that they would not tell us what the new wines would be. A couple of the current (old list) wines were already "out of stock". :(

It will be fun finding new favorites, and an excuse to try others (like I need another excuse :D).
