Yorto Posted February 18, 2015 #276 Share Posted February 18, 2015 Hi Koz1When you bought your OBC was it at aud 1:1 usd rate or was it the forex rate? Would be interesting if they refunded at the exchange rate after purchasing 1:1 rate !!!!
Jatee Posted February 18, 2015 #277 Share Posted February 18, 2015 Yorto I'm going to have a guess that Koz1 puchased at the forex rate which is why he got the forex rate going back. Only time will tell for those lucky enought to have bought some OBC at 1:1.
Rare MicCanberra Posted February 18, 2015 #278 Share Posted February 18, 2015 We've just finished two B2B cruises on the Allure of the Seas and I purchased $US200 of OBC for each cruise back on January 14, an amount I thought we would use. On the first cruise we owed $10 after using all of the OBC and that was charged to my card. We returned to Fort Lauderdale from the second cruise on Sunday and had the $200 OBC as well as $US70 as a refund from cancelling a shore excursion that we had already paid for months ago and booking another one that was $35 each cheaper. We spent most of the $270 and had $US7.07 left that we had not used, which was credited back to my American Express card. It showed up on my account today and I had $A9.25 credited back to my Amex account so it was returned to me at a rate of .7643 . I tried to keep a few dollars left that we had not spent so, out of interest, I could see what rate it would be returned at, and report back here. Thanks Ken, glad you have had a wonderful B2B cruise. Loving the pics and videos. Travel home safely and hopefully we will see you again soon.:D
Rare MicCanberra Posted February 18, 2015 #279 Share Posted February 18, 2015 We're on the Allure of the Seas on B2B Caribbean cruises now and I called the Australian Royal Caribbean number a few weeks before we left and purchased $200 OBC for each of our cruises. They told me it was 1-1 Australian to US Dollars and the receipt showed as you said, with no indication that it was US Dollars. There was a card delivered to our room on the day we boarded saying we had a gift of $200 Onboard Credit. Message: BEST WISHES Compliments of: SDSDF SDSD . The onboard credit showed on our account when I looked on the TV in the room that we had $US200 OBCR (the R means refundable and when I asked on the ship what happens if we don't use it all I was told that it will be refunded to my credit card (not that we'll have any left). So it was certainly a great deal with the $A exchange rate at the moment. Ken Hi Koz1When you bought your OBC was it at aud 1:1 usd rate or was it the forex rate? Ken bought at a rate of 1 $AUD for $USD.:D
Koz1 Posted February 18, 2015 #280 Share Posted February 18, 2015 Hi Koz1When you bought your OBC was it at aud 1:1 usd rate or was it the forex rate? Hi Jatee, Yes it was at the 1:1 rate. You can read in detail what I wrote about buying and using the OBC in post 74 on page 4 of this thread and then in post 141 on page 8. Ken

cruisine21 Posted February 22, 2015 #282 Share Posted February 22, 2015 I just boarded the Voyager today and the OBC is not showing up on my account. I went to guest services and was told it takes 24 hours to get posted.
Gold Coast Cruisers Posted February 22, 2015 #283 Share Posted February 22, 2015 (edited) Yes that's quite normal for the OBC not to show on your account until 24 hours later. Edited February 22, 2015 by Gold Coast Cruisers

aussiebrad79 Posted February 22, 2015 #285 Share Posted February 22, 2015 (edited) Well, that is going to be an issue then... I am using my OBC to purchase my drinks package and activities and wanted to get it all done before we left port! Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted February 22, 2015 #286 Share Posted February 22, 2015 Well, that is going to be an issue then... I am using my OBC to purchase my drinks package and activities and wanted to get it all done before we left port! It shouldn't be an issue. The purchase of your drinks packages and activities will go against your shipboard account, the the OBC will pop in and pay for them. ;)

aronde Posted February 22, 2015 #288 Share Posted February 22, 2015 Has anyone tried buying OBC recently - i.e. since the 'glitch' was fixed? I am interested to see what exchange rate they are using now as Canadians are currently getting 90 cents to the dollar which is better than the market rate. No mention on their discussion about a glitch either! Might call them tomorrow and see.

Rare MicCanberra Posted February 22, 2015 #294 Share Posted February 22, 2015 (edited) Just a note after getting off the VOTS yesterday. I was talking to a fellow passenger who had some OBC (bought with advice from CC) and had some excess. They tried to withdraw at guest services with no luck, couldn't with draw at the casino cashier either. They did however go to a table and manage to have OBC taken off the sea pass, they played a few hands and cashed out ( for the 5%).:D I suppose, there is still inconsistency on board the ships as well. Rare Port Power Posted February 23, 2015 #296 Share Posted February 23, 2015 Unfortunately this changed a couple of days ago. The current rate is $32Aus for $25US At least that's the global rate and probably a better rate than our banks would give. It makes me think it is worth changing the final bill to have the ship make the conversion (generally speaking, of course, as we shouldn't have anything left to pay with our OBC). Waiting to see what you thought of the VOS Mic as I'd suggested friends try her for the 14 nights prior. Hope I did the right thing - she was a great ship before the extra cabins were added, therefore increasing the passenger numbers but decreasing the crew numbers
