BldLvr Posted February 3, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2015 We will be on the May 18th 14 day Alaskan cruise on the Statendam, HAL. We will stop in Homer, Alaska and wonder if anyone has done the Glacier Lake Interpretive Hike. We are both 65 and in good shape. This sounds like a wonderful hike. Thanks for any info. Suzanne123 Posted February 3, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 3, 2015 I don't know anything about the hike, although Homer is a gorgeous area. We visited Homer a couple years ago prior to our cruise and had just a wonderful day sea kayaking. If you are in good shape, this is really a fun trip. http://homerkayaking.com/
mapleleaves Posted February 4, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 4, 2015 You might want to post a link to the hike description/details. If it's a cruiseline excursion, HAL is working with a vendor. Someone might see the description and recognize it from a diy experience. ie maybe a program or hike with the Alaska Coastal Studies ? http://www.akcoastalstudies.org/ Or check the homer web site: https://www.homeralaska.org/visit-homer/recreation-adventure/hiking-parks

Marian We are also on this Cruise and think of doing this hike. We already contacted some companys. The cheapest was 120$ for Both of us and we were told it is an easy hike/Walk. Maybe we can go to together or will you do the tour with HAL? Greets Janine 🍀

Greets Janine Hi - we are not on the HAL ship, cut what companies were you looking at. Did the $120 include the Ferry ride across? We will be in Homer late May and are keen to do this walk. Thanks in advance for your response.

Ashore water Taxi has a Price of 75$ per Person and Sailwood adventures gave us the price of 120$ for both. The two owners do a sailing turn Right now, so maybe they won't have Internet all the Time, but they answered me two days later. BldLvr Posted February 10, 2015 Author #8 Share Posted February 10, 2015 Hello Janine. We have decided to wait to sign up for this excursion. We would do it thru the cruiseline too. We prefer to do the ship excursions. The cost thru HAL is very expensive, not sure if I can post the price on here. I did email HAL and they answered me right away. This is a 5 mile hike, not much incline but a short steep climb at the end. You start at one point and end at another. They said the hike was 205 minutes. We have signed up for several excursions thru the ship. Have you been to the ROLLCALL on here? There are people chatting about our cruise, some have made tours thru private companies. Will be sure to meet up when we get onboard! Marian
