qbanrican84 Posted February 3, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2015 Hi there! Has anyone traveled from La Spezia to Pisa, then Monterosso? I want to see and do so much that sometimes it seems impossble to me, but I want to see the typical touristy Pisa, then get the beautiful views of Monterosso...worth it? Langoustine Posted February 3, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 3, 2015 (edited) IMO, no. You're going in two different directions to do both Pisa and Monterosso. I would skip Pisa, go to Monterosso, and then do a leisurely trip through the other Cinque Terre towns on the way back to La Spezia. mapleleaves Posted February 3, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 3, 2015 depends on how much time you have. This was a recent thread : http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2149637
travellingwithnikki Posted February 3, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 3, 2015 I saw Cinque Terre in a day in December - it was easy to do :) In the summer when the days are longer, you will have more than enough time. http://www.travellingwithnikki.co.uk/2015/02/CinqueTerreInADay.html
kuldalai Posted February 4, 2015 #5 Share Posted February 4, 2015 From La Spezia Centrale its 60 minutes by train to Pisa Centrale . From La Spezia to Monterosso its 25 minutes by train . Pisa and Monterosso are in opposite directions from La Spezia . If you want to see the Cinque Terre then Monterosso and Corniglia are the least attractive villages . The stunners are Riomaggiore (10 mins), Manarola (13mins) and Vernazza (20 mins) by train from La Spezia Centrale.

quilter49 Posted February 14, 2015 #7 Share Posted February 14, 2015 How do you get to the train station from the pier? Is it better to take the train or take a tour from the ship via boat? Cinque Terra is on my bucket list! Thanks. Lisa
kuldalai Posted February 15, 2015 #8 Share Posted February 15, 2015 From cruise boat berth in La Spezia it is 30 minute walk to La Spezia Centrale railway station, or 10 minutes by taxi .
yvonneh Posted February 15, 2015 #9 Share Posted February 15, 2015 If you rent a car, you can see it all. The local Hertz in Livorno is excellent (Sifracar), and will meet you at the port. Drive to La Spezia, park at the train station and take the train to Cinque Terre. We had plenty of time, ate lunch in Vernazza, hiked a bit of the trail and went to the beach in Monterosso. On Your way back, stop by Pisa. The Hertz agent will be there to take your car at the port. It is a fantastic day!

waterbabies7415 Posted February 27, 2015 #11 Share Posted February 27, 2015 According to RIL The Chianti wine/Butcher tour we were planning from Liverno is not available from the port in La Spezia :( when NCL cancelled our cruise last weekend we changed to RC/Allure ship and in doing so this port changed. This had been the tour I was most looking forward to. Any suggestions what to do now form La Spezia? I have been watching YouTube videos on Cinque Terre and Lucca as RIL suggested alternative places but eh....not so interested. Rick Steves' book I had purchased months ago doesn't even mention La Spezia! Go figure. Anyhow, I was hoping to get advise from the CC world. Can you help me? We are a young 45-50, fun loving couple who loves wine, food, history, not very religious-but will pop into a church or two, and not big on shopping or crowds and this is our first European vacation. TIA!! :)
