IMO, no. You're going in two different directions to do both Pisa and Monterosso. I would skip Pisa, go to Monterosso, and then do a leisurely trip through the other Cinque Terre towns on the way back to La Spezia.

From La Spezia Centrale its 60 minutes by train to Pisa Centrale . From La Spezia to Monterosso its 25 minutes by train . Pisa and Monterosso are in opposite directions from La Spezia .

If you want to see the Cinque Terre then Monterosso and Corniglia are the least attractive villages . The stunners are Riomaggiore (10 mins), Manarola (13mins) and Vernazza (20 mins) by train from La Spezia Centrale.

If you rent a car, you can see it all. The local Hertz in Livorno is excellent (Sifracar), and will meet you at the port. Drive to La Spezia, park at the train station and take the train to Cinque Terre. We had plenty of time, ate lunch in Vernazza, hiked a bit of the trail and went to the beach in Monterosso.

On Your way back, stop by Pisa.

The Hertz agent will be there to take your car at the port.

It is a fantastic day!

I'm a little confused but very interested is what we would like to do. You rented a car that met you at the port, then drove to LaSpezia and parked it then took the train? How did you get to the beach and then Pisa? TIA!

According to RIL The Chianti wine/Butcher tour we were planning from Liverno is not available from the port in La Spezia :( when NCL cancelled our cruise last weekend we changed to RC/Allure ship and in doing so this port changed. This had been the tour I was most looking forward to. Any suggestions what to do now form La Spezia? I have been watching YouTube videos on Cinque Terre and Lucca as RIL suggested alternative places but eh....not so interested. Rick Steves' book I had purchased months ago doesn't even mention La Spezia! Go figure. Anyhow, I was hoping to get advise from the CC world. Can you help me? We are a young 45-50, fun loving couple who loves wine, food, history, not very religious-but will pop into a church or two, and not big on shopping or crowds and this is our first European vacation.

TIA!! :)
