Formal night scheduling - Newbie question

We're on the Grand Vancouver/Hawaii RT next month. We are looking forward to the Formal nights, so anti-formal folks need not respond. My question is: how do you find out which evenings are "Formal" (Patter perhaps ?) , and how many days in advance of each formal evening would we know? We want to avoid conflicting with other scheduled activities, such as Ultimate Balcony Dining, specialty restaurant dining - probably at least two, plus one or two others still being considered. :)

As mentioned, the schedule will be listed in the first Princess Patter when you arrive in your cabin.

As a general rule, the first and last night of a cruise are never formal nights-people may not have received luggage, they are busy unpacking, etc.

Typically, formal nights are also sea days, but on port intensive cruises, they cane on port days too.

Also, one formal night occurs early in the cruise, like the second of third night out. The last formal night is usually the night before the last night of the cruise.

On longer cruises that have three or four formal nights, the others will be spaced out during the cruise.

Note the above is not cast in stone, but it is traditional.

Enjoy the cruise!
