BCCRUSINGCOUPLE Posted February 15, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2015 Hello we have s bit of a issue and want some input on it. We are a family of 3 and looking at a cruise in April. My Dw can't get her holiday approved till March. Here comes the issue boat is filling so we were thinking if we book a room now with my son and I would it be hard to add my Dw in March. notentirelynormal Posted February 15, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2015 It could very well be impossible to add her in later. In this case you should book her in the room with you now and if she can't go remove her name. Cruise ships aren't like hotels. There are only so many people allowed on the ship and they control how many for each life boat section. Even if the room has three berths that is no guarantee you can add her in later. This is a better to have and not need then need and not have situation.
paul929207 Posted February 15, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 15, 2015 You would need to get a cabin that accommodates 3 passengers. There would need to be sufficient lifeboat capacity for her.
pms4104 Posted February 15, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 15, 2015 Keep in mind the penalties schedule ... with an April sailing you may be nearung the date when changes to your booking, such as removing a passenger, will incur a penalty. Keep that in mind as you consider your course of action.
NavyVeteran Posted February 15, 2015 #5 Share Posted February 15, 2015 If your Dw booked now and purchased Princess Platinum Vacation Protection, then she could cancel for any reason and receive the cruise fare back as a credit for a future cruise. As long as she will be cruising on Princess before the credit runs out, all she would lose would be the cost of the insurance. This is one time when Princess Vacation Protection is probably better than third-party insurance. If you do so, make sure that you and your son are listed - and charged - as the first two passengers and your Dw is listed - and charged - as the third passenger, since the fare for the third passenger is different than for the first two passengers. Then there should be no change to the fare for you and your son if your Dw cancels.
timetravler Posted February 15, 2015 #6 Share Posted February 15, 2015 You would need to get a cabin that accommodates 3 passengers. There would need to be sufficient lifeboat capacity for her. This might be your biggest issue. You need to look at the deck plan to see if your cabin is one that can hold 3 or 4 people. If it is a mini suite, you are good to go. Otherwise you may have to change your cabin to one that accommodates a third person. If those cabins are all booked already, then you will have to work with Princess and try to get that type of cabin.
azrose Posted February 15, 2015 #7 Share Posted February 15, 2015 (edited) Basically, call Princess to verify the ship is not at capacity and you have a cabin which can accommodate 3-4 persons....because, even if you have a cabin that can accommodate extra persons, the ship may be at capacity.....
