Has anyone used Priceline.com for rental cars?

Is it legit and are the cars in decent shape?

We have used priceline for car rentals quite often. The rental is through one of the top agencies like hertz or enterprise so the cars you get come from the same fleet as if you booked it anywhere else. Right now we have a standard size car booked in baltimore through hertz for 15 dollars a day.

That is much less then what we could get anywhere else. So far it has worked for us. Cindy

We used Priceline to rent a car in Puerto Rico last year. The rental company turned out to be Alamo and we got an Intermediate sized car for $21+ per day. All the paperwork was there. We had no problems.

Rented a full size in Maui in April for $17/day....

thru Alamo.....and a full size in Raleigh in May

for $18 or $19 and that was with Budget....

Priceline usually beats web prices.....

No problem with Priceline rental cars as previously posted. But remember, you won't get any frequent flyer miles with PL rentals, in case you collect them as crazily as I do! :)

one other problem is the taxes and fees that are added. you cannot compare them adequately when you rent cars on priceline.

Several month ago my husband got them down to $16 per day for an Impala through Alamo. He tried Priceline again for our upcoming trip and had to accept $20 per day for an intermediate car through Avis. The cars are just fine.

In my experience the deals on rental cars on priceline are not that spectacular. I'd rather pay a couple of dollars extra and use my hertz #1 Club Gold membership to avoid the lines at the airport.

I have used priceline for cars.

 

HOWEVER in Miami you hve to be REAL careful. Not all the rental agencies offer shuttle to the pier. National, Budget and Dollar DO NOT. Cab fares from the airport to the port are a bit more that $20 these days.

 

Therefore, for my 3/04 and 12/05 rentals I used my Entertainment coupon. Cars cost me about $25/day inc taxes and fees and I had the freedom to stay at outlying hotels which are cheaper and don't charge for parking. Also, offer a greater choice of resturants and shopping in ALL price ranges.

The best info for using Priceline is at www.biddingfortravel.com

It includes info on accepted bids so you see the prices and the companies, etc. This has been especially helpful for me for hotels so you can see what prices/hotels you can get and using this I have gotten amazing deals :D .

I booked thru Priceline for the week after x-mas two years ago and got the best deal by far using Priceline. Checked all the websites and after I booked found out I had National Car Rental. Picked up at Tampa Aiport w/o any extra fees. Would reccomend.

How do you price a car on Priceline. Do go to a rental car site and see their daily rate and then go lower on Priceline. We are looking to rent van in California for a week.

Does Priceline allow pickup at Airport and drop off at Pier? (I know it would depend on whether or not the car rental agency you get has this option available...)

 

We would like to do a rental in Vancouver end of June. Any other discount web-sites to check, rather than "gambling" on Priceline?
