Alaska - major cruise line or expedition cruise line?

We have been thinking about a cruise to Alaska, and were planning on sailing with RCI or maybe Princess, but then we ran across the itinerary and videos for Lindblad National Geographic's cruise to Alaska. Has anyone done both? The Lindblad cruise is like three times the cost to sail in suite on RCI, and it seems like you get so much closer to things than with major cruise line - but is it worth that much extra?

I guess it depends how detailed you want your trip to be! Find out what the difference is in your routes....and make your decision from that.
