9270 or C3?

Hi all,

I always see such great advice I thought I would ask to see what you would do. We are sailing Reflection next month in cabin 9270 ( a 1A cabin), which I am told has an extra large balcony. We like to spend time out there, especially DH takes naps and has breakfast out there, so he is looking forward to the extra room. Right now we can upgrade to a C3 cabin ( I think cabin 9352 or something close to that) for only a total of $98 ( $49 each).

My question is what does this get us? Not sure if these are included but here are some thoughts:

A butler does nothing for me as I like to unpack myself and ordering room service has always been fine/easy for us , really don't know what else I would have him do. obviously never had one.

Flowers in room and /or extra bath stuff is REALLY no biggie either. I like my own products.

Does Persian Gardens come with that? That might make it worth it? What exactly does that entail?

Dinner options in Aqua would be nice but we are traveling with a group of 6 and they won't be upgrading, so wouldn't use that much at all. That's the only one I am really bummed about., IF it is even included, we would certainly upgrade just to check that out if it were just me and DH.

Is there something I am missing? My TA wasn't quite sure, I knew you all would be the most helpful. We have been looking forward to that big balcony since we booked last year, but I would hate to not upgrade at that price if it means we would get something we would use?

Would love to hear your feedback! Thanks in advance!

A C3 cabin give you a bit more attention in your cabin. A bottle of bubbly and afternoon canapes. It is not an Aqua class room. It is Concierge. The room is also about 18" deeper and it does make a big difference. Persian Garden is not big deal. Suggest you go to Celebrity website and look at Concierge Cabin details and compare.

C3 is Concierge class, not Aqua Class, so there is no free access to the Persian Gardens. There is no access to Blu. Except for formal night, there are no flowers. The sparkling wine and canapés - meh.

So, if it were me, I'd stay with the over sized balcony. I thought all the Concierge cabins on the S-class were the same size, but I might be wrong. Concierge class cabins are definitely larger on the M-class.

You are correct. On the S-class ships, the cabin interiors of Concierge Class (and Aqua) are the same size as they are in regular balcony cabins (like th OP's 1A).

OP: unless you want the extra Captain's Club points that you'd get for booking a C3, as others have said, the "perks" of CC versus a 1A are not huge (and don't include most of what you have listed), although you would get a footstool on the balcony in CC and not in the 1A (no one has mentioned that). I doubt it's worth giving up the huge balcony for. Your 1A is also very conveniently located near the midship elevators and stairs. Can't beat that location.

Have a great trip whatever you decide!

This thread has photos showing the size of the balcony. Compare them to other photos you can find on line for Solstice class balconies to see if it's worth it:

You also get a bottle of cheap sparking wine with the Concierge class. :)

The extra cruise points are significant, though, particularly if you're sailing on a long cruise.

For me, it would depend on which C3 cabin they are offering you. We are booked in a C3 this summer and we are in a very good location, just behind the hump on deck 9, so still convenient to the elevators, etc. Some of the C3s are very far aft.

Oh! I didn't notice at first you said you were offered 9352. Hmm, kinda far aft - tough call then.

I would never trade a 1A for a concierge class cabin! It's all about the balcony!!! Cabin is the same. And you don't get a butler with concierge class. Or access to Blu or the Persian Gardens. And lately, no flowers either. So, unless you're desperate for the points, go with your 1A.

Thanks for clearing that up on the benefits everyone. You have confirmed my initial thoughts about keeping my A1 balcony! And by the sounds of it, I wouldn't get anything I even thought was included anyway. LOL

Points don't make that much of a difference to me either, we only have the time ( and $) to cruise once a year at this point. Maybe some day we will go more..... hopefully!

Thank you for being so helpful everyone!

Did you currently book your A1 cabin under the 1-2-3 Promotion? And you can upgrade to a CC cabin for only 98 more? I'm sure someone will tell me if I am wrong, but if I am not mistaken the promotion is still going on till 2/28 that if you are in a CC cabin, you get all 3 options of the drinks package, OBC and free gratuities. That would obviously make the change a no brainer. And there might be some C2 cabins available with larger balconies as well. Good luck.

Wait? What? I thought it was only all 3 for Alaska or Europe? Can someone chime in here to clarify? Because if we could get all that I could do without the balcony being so large? LOL

It says on their current website that if you book a CC or AQ cabin for almost anywhere we sail from march 2015 through 2017, you qualify for all 3.

There is only 1 C3 cabin left...9366, there were 3 left 10 hours ago.

There are 4 C2 left...2200, 2204, 1682, 1686.

There are 9 C1 left..2223 deck 12 hump and 8 aft facings cabins.

Good luck. Your Captains Club membership may qualify you for a 1 cabin upgrade as well from C3 to C2 or C2 to C1.

Thanks for the tips everyone, You are correct I would have gotten all 3 ( 300 OBC, plus grats and drinks package) yesterday for $49 per person. I REALLY WISH my TA had told me that ( but she honestly didn't even know). Today it is $150 per person. Still a good deal , however since I already have $300 OBC ( and upgraded my drink package already) and am traveling with a group who likes to eat in the dinning room every night then it would not make it worth it for us to pay an extra $300. I really do not know what we would spend all that OBC on. My TA felt bad and is throwing in a bottle of wine for us now, which is a nice gesture that she didn't have to do, but am kicking myself for not catching this yesterday! Ah well, live and learn. She also said she would keep an eye to see if it drops again.

The joys of watching the prices and always wanting a better deal. No complaints though, we are looking forward to our cruise and will enjoy it no matter!

Thanks for helping me learn what to look for though! :)

The first thing I would do is get a new TA. Also, why did you already upgrade your drink package when all you needed to do was wait until you got on board and you could have used some of your 300 in OBC to do it. Also, I'm a little confused as to what you got from Celebrity and what you got from your TA. I am inferring that you got the drink package from X, you pre paid the upgrade on your drinks package and you got 300 from your TA.

You do realize that you could spend the 300 to upgrade and then you would have an extra 300 in OBC, your tips covered and the drink package. At this point, you still have to pay your tips from your OBC. You can also take any OBC you have and get it back in cash at the casino and all you'll lose is the 5% commission.

Yes, I realize we should have waited to upgrade drink package, like I said: live and learn. This is only our 2nd X cruise and we are hooked, just learning how to work it all out, catch the good deals and get the most from our bookings. The boards have been most helpful! We should have it by next time! LOL

We got $150 OBC from X from booking onboard last year, we got $50 OBC from TA ( and now a bottle of wine) and we got $100 OBC from getting an X credit card.

My TA does not sail X so doesn't know all the ins and outs, I had to tell her today that we wouldn't get Blu when she told me again that was a benefit. Believe me next time we book I will look into a different TA, after this. She has been nice, but I just need to find someone who KNOWS all this! :)

:)

I would still pay the 300 to upgrade to a CC cabin. This way you would gain the 300 as part of the all inclusive but you would lose the 150 in OBC from booking onboard. You would then have 450 in OBC from the 300 all inclusive, 50 from your TA and the 100 from the credit card. Your tips would also now be covered as well. You could then use your 450 in OBC towards shore excursions, spa stuff, specialty dinners or take it all back as cash at the casino, less their 5% take. At this point, you have 300 in OBC that 175 goes towards grats, leaving you with 125.
