Oh good for you! One of the great things about living in Florida is all the last-minute cruise deals you can get, and drive to the port. :)

I assume it's on Celebrity?

Have a wonderful time!

Good morning:) yes, Celebrity Constellation but as for driving to the

ship? No thanks. It is a 5 hour drive and I can fly for about 150.00

and get there in just over an hour;)

We feel the same way too about the drive. We started to overnight at a hotel after driving to South Florida to start our vacation that way. Yes, we still have to do the drive but so far it has been fun to have dinner and wake up the next day rested ready for the cruise with about a 10 minute drive to the Port. Right now, that is how we are dealing with getting to the Port but your idea is better :) !

When I first started to cruise I drove down a couple of times. As the

years have gone by I just prefer the shorter route;)......Yes, it costs

me $ to fly but as in everything else in life, you just have to decide

about the priorities..what is important, the amount $, etc......

I am happy with my choice:D....flight leaves at 8:30 and I am in

Ft. Lauderdale about 10:15:)

Glad to hear you are getting away for a short break Lois. I will expect a full report so I know what to expect a couple of weeks later, when I am on the Constellation. Just Kidding.

I thinks its probably the same itinerary with KW & Coz, but I didn't plan on doing much in either port as I have been there before a few times. I am looking forward to the relaxation of the sea days. Have a great time. Neil

Hi Neil:)....thanks:D..yes, it is Key West and Cozumel. I will probably

go downtown in KW and walk around a bit. Cozumel? Not getting off

the ship this cruise.

Lois, If you don't mind I have a couple of questions that I think your expertise with Celebrity can help me with. I plan on trying the Tuscan Grille on the Connie and was wondering if I should make the reservations online, or if it is OK to wait until I am aboard ship. I am pretty flexible as to what time and what night I might book it, but I don't know how quickly it's reservations fill up. Usually I like to wait but don't want to miss out on trying it at least once.

Next question, how is the library aboard the Connie? I do like to read on sea days and usually take a few books along with me, and then swap them out in the library's exchange section if they have one, as I finish them. I know it is a short cruise but I will still probably read from 6 to 8 books on the trip, so I need an idea about how many I should bring with me. I do not care for an E-reader as I still like my old paper books.

Lastly, does Celebrity have any formal nights on these shorter cruises or is pretty much resort casual the whole cruise?

Lois, thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Hi Neil, I thought I was the only one left who likes to read real books;)

I know the Libraries on the M class ships are not very large...I haven't

been on Constellation in several years so I don't know what kind of

shape the library is in........I mean I know they have choices but not

sure what the selection is......If you want to bring 1/2 dozen? I think

that is alot but I only usually bring about 2 or 3 with me.

Dinner? Wait till you get on board because sometimes they offer

discounts on the first evening:D....not always, but I would wait and

book on board. I doubt they will sell out every night.

A 5 night cruise has 1 formal night....I don't usually wear long gowns or

anything like that anymore. A pretty long skirt and top or a dressy pair

of black slacks and pretty top.....not sure what you normally wear....

Suit? Sport coat?

I don't like to get involved in dress code threads over on the main forum

anymore........gets too nasty over there. I always try to dress appropriately.

Hope this helps:)

Thanks Lois, that helps a lot. I do enjoy a good book and on sea days I will read at least two books and sometimes three, depending on what other activities are on board. (It keeps me out of the casino.) I will just wait to book the Tuscan Grille until I get aboard. I appreciate the help. Neil

Good morning......it was not a normal Celebrity Cruise:mad::(:eek:......in 12

years of cruising with them?.....there were 1,000 Spring Breakers on

board and it was the worst cruise I have ever taken with them.

I was very disappointed and had a meeting with the Hotel Director about

things and I have also written a letter to Miami's HQ about it.

VERY, VERY "UnCelebrity" like..........

Welcome Back Lois, I hope you had a great cruise. I hope all you wild spring breakers didn't trash the ship too bad, as I will be leaving on her next Saturday. Neil

Hi Neil, see my previous post:eek:......I hope you get a better behaved

group. I don't know what colleges/universities are off next week.......

but I am going to be 100% honest with you......it was NOT a good

cruise:rolleyes:......I am not writing a review but was VERY disappointed.

My May cruise to Alaska (already made final payment).....well, it

BETTER be better....

Lois,

I was surprised to read about the circumstances of your cruise. I would never have imagined that Celebrity would be going after the spring break crowd. I can imagine your disappointment and I believe Celebrity should have notified those sailing before final payment that there would be 1,000 spring breakers aboard. So sorry Celebrity chose not to disclose this. I would have been disappointed as well.

I'm surprised how long the spring break/Easter week cruising season lasts. I work at a college and our spring break week is the last week in March.

Lois, you should be fine cruising to Alaska in May. I've cruised Alaska in May twice over the years and both times had a wonderful relaxing cruise.

I've cruised over lots of Christmas/New Years holidays and will not take a short cruise during this time--for me this means 5-7 nights. After Lois' experience I will add spring break/Easter week to my list of times not to take short cruises.

I first interpreted Lois's Spring Breakers as obnoxious drunks, but she didn't actually say that. If all she meant was people staying up past 10 PM, I could live with that. (On another thread, someone posted that they found the ship shut down by 11PM.) Need to clarify.

Lois, Sorry to hear that the ship actually did have a bunch of spring breakers on it for your trip. That was one of the reasons why I booked Celebrity for this trip, I didn't think that something like that would happen with them. I wouldn't mind a few of them, but with a 1,000 of them, I don't think that would be a good thing for my first Celebrity Cruise. Hopefully it won't be that way next week. Neil
