Booking with a party of 5?

We are a family of 5, and looking to book a cruise.

Upon checking out RC, we can only book 4 per state room and it comes up that we have to book two state rooms? If you book two staterooms the price obviously goes way up.

Does anyone know if there is any way around this considering our children are 11, 6 and 3?

In comparison we can book all 5 of us into one state room with Norwegian so it does not make sense that we cannot do it with RC.

You can't book more than 4 in a room online, but Royal does have family rooms with higher capacities. You or your TA just have to call.

Some people find two cabins better than a family room for the extra bathroom, but you can weigh the pros, con's, and prices to find the best value for your situation.

We booked a family interior for a better price than 2 rooms. We booked during friends and family sail free. It was more than we needed. large bed and a pull out couch and bunk beds in a separate area. Only 1 bathroom but we just planned for that. Huge walk in closet and tons of cupboard and desk space for the kids to do homework on our transatlantic.

When calling about a price for a family stateroom that sleeps up to 6 make sure that you check out the price of 2 cabins that are either connecting or side by side. We have found that in many cases there has not been a dramatic jump in price to get 2 cabins as opposed to the 1 cabin. Many times it has been less than $500 extra to get 2 cabins.

any cabin that holds more than 4 may ONLY be bored directly via a TA or by calling. you may not book online.

actually you'd be surprised that a balcony for the 'rents and an inside across the hall, or next door could be significantly LESS expensive than a family stateroom that holds 5.
