When is Carnival going back to Europe?

It's more a case of "we built Vista in Italy so it will stay in Europe for the 2016 high season sailings as a shakedown period" then it will sail to the US and be homeported in Miami.

No indication that Carnival will offer anything in Europe beyond that.

Carnival clientele generally not interested in being world travelers and stay around the US. Only exception is Australia.

As a result only European for now is new builds for the first season after launch.

This is why we are sailing Princess for our European cruises now.

We did a cruise through Europe in September 2014 on NCL, but we would like to stay with Carnival because we are gold members through them.

I have seen comments indicating that Carnival is always alert to European opportunities. If airfare would stabilize or come down a little, it's likely that Carnival would sail in Europe every year.

Hard fact is, it is always about the money. If they see profits somewhere on earth, they will send in the ships.

Carnival tends to cater to people who want to cruise on more of a budget. Going to Europe kind of rules that group out. We want to do a European cruise so badly but the cost of airfare alone is $2000!! Just getting to Europe would cost more than a 7 day cruise to the Caribbean on Carnival. Not worth it at this time. Will we do it someday? I hope so, but it will probably be a big event type of thing, like a retirement cruise or milestone birthday (50th?).

Of course it isnt cheap to build these ships. RCCL and others see Asia as big market but Carnival isnt going there.

Strange though that RCCL, NCL and others can be profitable in Europe and Carnival doesnt see it that way.

Very true. But if you expand the vision....CarnivalCorp. is in both markets in a huge way.

They never reveal how much interaction there is within the CarnivalCorp. family of cruise lines, but whatever it is, it is set up to make profits.
