Hi! So my mom and I are doing a mother/daughter cruise in May to celebrate my 30th birthday and Mom's 30 years of being a mom! We are doing a 4 night cruise on the Fascination out of Jacksonville (Freeport/Nassau/Sea Day) - easier on our work schedules and I won't have to leave my husband and babies for too long :) Neither of us have been on this ship, but we've done a few of the other Carnival ships as well as other cruise lines, so if anyone has any info about this ship - the good, the bad - on food, activities, spa, shows, pool etc., we'd love to hear about it! We've been to Freeport & Nassau numerous times, so will most likely be staying onboard just relaxing when we're in port. Also, if you have any copies of recent Fun Times for this itinerary I'd love to see them. Thanks so much!! :)

Food MDR fair to good

Food buffet fair (meat carvings good to very good)

Nothing to eat after 11pm except for calling room service and pizza

Casino excellent

Shows typical Carnival

Service mostly very good with exception of that beverage server that rarely makes it to your table more than once

Cabin Stewards never had a bad one on this ship been on this ship a number of times

Spa excellent

Pools just older and salt water we much prefer RC and Princess

Serenity good

Daily trivia fun and multiple times per day/night

The Fascination is our last minute casino getaways. She is in dry dock this month. I don't go on this ship for the food, the larger Carnival ships offer better and more, but you won't starve.

Serenity Adult Retreat is located on Deck 9 Aft ..doors are all the way to the back of Puttin on the Ritz lounge. Doors are on each side. Was hard to find at first for us.

The Aft Dinning room are a pain to get to if you don't use the Aft elevators because you can't cut through there because the galley is in between the Dining rooms on those floors.

Deli I believe stayed open until 11:00pm. and there is late night snacks.. think hamburgers and fries, cookies and such at 11:00- 12:30 ish??? check Fun Times for Times.

Mongolian Wok was good as was the Deli. Pizza Pirate was open 24 hrs.

Taste Bar is Open on Sea Day starting at 5:00 I believe. And even though they do not have any Specialty Restaurants they do serve Appetizers from the different Ships that have them.

Coffee Bar on Deck 9 ..great cakes by the slice or chocolate covered strawberries (for a fee) Cherry on top Candy store.

We just got off the Fascination in February. Not my favorite ship, but we had a good time.

Food is ok. Great Mexican Fiesta on the lido one night. We had some really great crew members and also some really awful ones (a first for us on a Carnival) Say hi to Antara for me! (lido, dining room and comedy club bartender) or Izabella at the Stars bar. Cruise Director, Jase, was a tool. You'll agree when you hear him end every announcement with "byeeeeeee!" Tons of trivia, decent entertainment staff. (Except Jase...did I mention he was a tool?)

I have our Funtimes from this cruise. I could take a picture and post if you haven't gotten a hold of it yet. We had two sea days - first was packed with stuff to do, second (our last day) was a snooze fest. Slow bar service, clean ship - you'll have a good time :)

Let me know if you have any specific questions, we just got back two weeks ago, so it's still fresh.

Aside from the formal night, can men wear shorts to dinner in the main or anytime dining? Or did most people wear slacks? Did women wear dresses, capris, or shorts mostly? We have anytime dining which may be more casual? Any input is appreciated.

Just got off Fascination today. 3rd Carnival cruise. Sorry to say I was disappointed. If you wanna know anything ask away. We were the 1st ones to sail since dry dock. Men can wear shorts in main on cruise casual nights which is every night but formal.

I would also be interested in more info. Was Dr Suess at Sea implemented? Were the comedians entertaining? What did you dislike? I just want to be prepared.

I was on the same cruise as you, just curious as to what you were disappointed with, wondering if you could elaborate...

I am pretty sure I saved the fun times, I will be glad to post them if you like. We did the 5 day (Sea Day, Nassau, HMC, Sea Day), but in Nassau we stayed until about Midnight, due to it being a Carnival LIVE sailing with Little Big Town.

We're also sailing this Saturday. Can't wait. There have been some recent bad reviews about the Fascination, but we've been on her 4 times and always have a great cruise. I guess it is all about your expectations,

There is no steak house on this ship, but they have added a second or should i say third part of the menu where you can pay extra for a steak or lobster. I did one night last fall, and it (filet mignon) was worth every penny.

Yes, pizza 24/7 also an ice cream machine, and room service, and the lido deck opens back up around 11:30 for burgers and hot dogs-I am usually asleep at this time.

And I agree, go to tea. Great little tea sandwiches, and cakes and well tea. A nice break from the sun and crowds.

You and your mom should have a wonderful time together. I hope you do!
