anytime dining, dream, large group, your experience

Recommended Posts

We only had 4 in our party, but I saw many large groups in the dining room. There was only one or two nights where there was a wait for anyone. They gave you one of those restaurant pagers and you can go do whatever you want.

I saw a lot of empty tables on the other nights, so if a big group came..they would easily put tables together and seat them quickly.

We had a group of 10 last time, and occasionally we had to wait 5 minutes or so while they set up the table. One time we did end up waiting about 20 minutes, but otherwise we were usually seated quite quickly. And I think the waits were mostly because we requested the same waiter all week. But overall it was not bad at all, and we're planning on doing ATD again on our next cruise.

Frowned on heavily by Carnival. We have had groups where a bunch wanted to do ATD (we ahe never done it ourselves) and we were called by Miami to question us, saying ATD was not made for large parties.

We did anytime dining on the Legend last june despite the warnings of long waits. We had a party of 12 and never waited even one time for a table.

but who has experienced anytime dining on the Dream? With a larger party? We will be a party of 10 this time.

what time did you go to dinner?

did you have one table? or two side by side? Legend has more 6 top tables. compared to other ships that seat 8

We had a group of 12 on the Miracle and had to wait every night. When we booked ATD we figured we would have to wait 15 minutes or so. But on two nights we waited over an hour and on a third night we gave up after 90 minutes.

Best of luck to you.

Had a group of 13 on the Dream, a NYE cruise 2013/2014.

We all had ATD and it was never a problem. Max wait was 15 minutes but most nights less. A lot less than our group of 5 on the Elation this past year with ATD.

They were very good. Even gave a guy in our group 3 vanilla and 2 strawberry ice creams with his WCMC.

It's going to depend on what time everyone in your group arrives and what time the rest of the pax arrive.

If your group is there when the doors open or after 8ish you should be able to get a table within a reasonable amount of time.

On the cruises I've been on the witching hour seems to be around 6:30-7:30.

No different than a restaurant at home that doesn't take reservations.

Just did the Dream with 10. Usually met in the bar area...lots of nice sofas, etc. & when all of our group got there got a pager. Went about 7. Just had time for a glass of wine before our pager went off. You must have your entire group together before they will give you a pager.
