joetop2467 Posted March 10, 2015 #51 Share Posted March 10, 2015 We have cruised many times but never on Norwegian. We never spend a lot on board and have gotten a credit to our bill for TA OBC not used. This happened most recently on the Celebrity Eclipse. It was credited to our credit card the day we disembarked. The OBC was clearly marked R for refundable or N for non refundable. Does Norwegian handle OBC the same? I can always buy some Estée Lauder if I'm just going to lose the OBC because we have drink package and don't plan on eating in up charge restaurants or using ship excursions in Bermuda. don't-use-real-name Posted March 10, 2015 #52 Share Posted March 10, 2015 Elevator fee!! If they start that ....I'm running/swimming far away! lol! Nah - just use the moving stairs - well that is what they were doing the very last time I tried to negotiate them 3 sheets to the wind ! Now that's LOL !!! don't-use-real-name Posted March 10, 2015 #53 Share Posted March 10, 2015 Edit: If possible, just check your onboard account via the TV or at Guest Services daily; if your worry about hidden fees. FYI Your account feature on the stateroom TV is not available on all ships and cruise lines (a matter of security and software issues). A visit to "Guest Services" you can request a printed copy of the account and have a piece of paper to make notes on and question the bill right then and there. WoodsDrive Posted March 10, 2015 #54 Share Posted March 10, 2015 Where are there any extra charges added on for a dessert in a specialty restaurant or a cup of coffee in the MDR?. A regular coffee in the MDRs are free unless you are ordering an expresso type drink. Desserts in the specialties are free as well and you can order additional appys, sides and desserts without generating an additional charge. Just don't order an extra entree and stay away from the up charge items like lobster. I thought up charge entrees were included with UPD?
Guindalf Posted March 10, 2015 #55 Share Posted March 10, 2015 They are, but some are getting confused. We booked last-minute and I avoided the up-charge items as I didn't read the T&Cs, but it does say they're included.
soaringfalcon Posted March 10, 2015 #56 Share Posted March 10, 2015 That kind of thing is exactly what I was looking for. You would think it was free but where/how it was served made the difference. Thanks! Remember that you have to sign for any and all charges so therefore it wouldn't be a surprise. The prices are posted at the coffee bar and it's clear there is an up charge...same with an after dinner espresso, latte or capp - there is a fee but it's noted on the menu and again, you would have to sign for it. swedish weave Posted March 11, 2015 #57 Share Posted March 11, 2015 If you do your pre-planning and pay attention while onbaord, there will be no surprises on any cruise line. Perhaps an occasional error can happen.

OBC from TA is refundable. OBC from NCL is not refundable. OBC from TA can be used for the DSC, OBC from NCL cannot be used for that.
maywell Posted March 11, 2015 #59 Share Posted March 11, 2015 OBC from TA is refundable. OBC from NCL is not refundable.OBC from TA can be used for the DSC, OBC from NCL cannot be used for that. If its OBC from a sale or promotion from NCL then that is non-refundable. But if its OBC you brought from MyNCL, that is actually refundable and what's ever left that you did not use, will be mailed to you a check in like 6-8 weeks or you can cash it out from the casino for like 3% fee. Unfortunately, they will not refunded / credited it to a credit card nor give to to you back in cash from the Guest Services.
flnew2cruise Posted March 11, 2015 #60 Share Posted March 11, 2015 I wouldn't say this was a hidden fee, but it was unexpected at least by me... In the casino, when cashing out the winnings ticket from the slot machine, I have always gone to the tellers to cash out. On my last cruise in January, my travelling companion told me I should just use the automated teller machine instead of waiting in line. I did (without reading the machine), and was charged a dollar each time I used it. Not a big deal, and not complaining. Just didn't expect the charge. Back to using the live tellers for me. :)

I wonder what happens if your tito is less than a dollar? :)

This was the first time I had ever used one. No prior experience with using the machine to cash out. The dollar was added to my onboard account. No big deal, I lost more then a dollar on the slots anyway LOL.

deerhuntingal Posted March 30, 2015 Author #67 Share Posted March 30, 2015 Sounds like a lot of fees are going to pop up in the future from all the threads on the new fee for room service, 18% gratuities, etc! Be interesting to hear from some on a cruise right now as to what they were hit with due to the new fees.
