Joining in Norfolk, VA - May Transatlantic

Recommended Posts

We are new to Royal Caribbean and would like to find out if it is possible to join May's re-positioning cruise (Brilliance of the Seas) in Norfolk, VA instead of sailing from Tampa. Has anybody done anything similar in the past?

Do Royal Caribbean generally give permission for a request such as this? We have been advised that an answer could take two weeks but we have to make full payment first. We know that there will be no reduction in the cost of the cruise.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Since the cruise you want is a TA, the chances are better than if it was a closed loop cruise in the US. Since you will have to present a passport, and the ship not be clearing with US CBP at the end of the trip, they really have no reason not to.

Just be aware that there will likely not be any baggage porters, and no luggage check in, you'll probably have to tote it all onboard. Also, since there will be no bag scanning either, they may take longer at ship's security to clear your bags. Just minor inconveniences, but something to think about.

You have to have a res # BEFORE you ask permission to embark late or disembark early. Once you book, you'll get an answer fairly quick. We got permission to disembark in Zeebruge (stop before Harwich) the same day I called (I had sent the form in a few days earlier).
