knbforbes Posted March 21, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2015 (edited) Hi, this is my first post here. I'm sailing on the Carnival Glory with my husband and two teenage kids next week. Ports are Key West and Cozumel. My question is this, the ship's itinerary puts us in port at Cozumel from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. We would like to do the all inclusive excursion at Mr. Sanchos, but I'm wondering how far that is from the port, and if it will be worth it by the time we disembark and get over there, as they close at 5:00 p.m. Has anyone done this excursion under these time constraints? mrsupsman Posted March 21, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2015 We did this excursion indepently from carnival and spent about 4 hours there. We booked it through Mr. Sancho's website and took a taxi from port, saving money. It took about 15 minutes to get there. We felt safe and have young children. The kids had plenty of virgin daquiris which were all free. Have fun.

klfrodo Posted March 21, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 21, 2015 11 cruises, probably 5 to Cozumel. Every stop has been a visit to Mr. Sanchos Beach Club. We also buy the all inclusive by visiting http://www.mrsanchos.com/mr-sanchos-all-inclusive-cozumel.html Cabs are always available.
Acosmo Posted March 21, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 21, 2015 10-15 Mins to get there, but you can't count on leaving exactly at 1:00 pm from the ship. They close at 5:30, it's a $16 cab ride each way and $55/pp for the all inclusive package. It's up to you if it's worth $252 for 4 hours.
fshstck Posted March 21, 2015 #6 Share Posted March 21, 2015 Keep in mind that docking time is EST, so when you dock at Cozumel at 1pm ship time it will be 11am at Mr. Sancho's. You will have plenty of time. The taxis are plentiful and the fares are set. Enjoy

knbforbes Posted March 21, 2015 Author #8 Share Posted March 21, 2015 Thanks for the info., everyone. Did not realize the arrival time posted by the ship is EST and not the actual time it will be in Cozumel. With the hour difference, I think we'll take our chances and do this excursion. Looking forward to a much-needed vacation. :)

With the hour difference, I think we'll take our chances and do this excursion. Looking forward to a much-needed vacation. :) That isn't strictly correct. Miami is on EDT now and Cozumel (local time ) is the equivalent of EST. Assuming the ship doesn't change time, which is always up to the captain, ship time will be 1 hour ahead of Cozumel time. Some of the beach bars stay open later when there is a late ship in port and if you do a search on this board you will find this question gets asked a lot! It is mor important that you know which Time zone you are on for getting back to your ship for sail away and DO NOT rely on your phone for time. Best to keep a watch on ship time. mtsnd1900 Posted March 22, 2015 #10 Share Posted March 22, 2015 We have done MR Sanchos many times, including two weeks ago aboard the Sunshine. For your situation, you may also consider Paradise Beach, which is right next door. You can do an al-a-carte there, and may save some money. This last time we went to MR Sanchos, our group all booked in advance, except for 2 people. When they got there, the guy at the entrance asked them if they had a reservation, and they told him they did not but wanted to all inclusive for the day. He told them that they were "sold out" but they could pay to come to the beach, and then pay as they went - and the cost to get on the beach would be $50 or something ridiculous like that - so they started to walk away and were going to leave, came over to the group (off to the side) and were telling us their situation - we told them to ask the lady sitting down and taking the money - she was like, oh, yeah, we can give you an all inclusive, no problem, and it was the same we all paid. Just seemed a little shady. Overall, we had a blast regardless of this, as we have many times in the past. They did tell people with no waterpark bracelet to get off the bouncy floats. Bottom line -it is a good option, check to see when they close, and also consider Paradise Beach, or, one of the other 10 that run next to it if you don't think it will be your perfect day.
