luv2gonow Posted March 23, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2015 Hi, I am looking at the Baltic cruise next summer on the Regal. Looks like only rooms left seem to be in front of a doorway in hallways shown on deck plans. What is this door never noticed doors in hallways on previous lines. I am assuming since these are only rooms avail. It is noisy from the door opening and closing? Anyone familiar with this? Thanks Kerri
dmwnc1959 Posted March 23, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 23, 2015 (edited) I think the 'doors' you are talking about, the ones in the passenger corridors, are called Fire Doors, and always remain retracted into the walls unseen except during safety and emergency drill(s) when they activate them, thereby sealing that section of the ship from any foot traffic. Here's an example of the fire door area: my cabin was C406, the forward end sort of it butts up against where the fire door is retracted into the wall. All you can see is the metal strip on the floor where it would extend across once it's activated. The biggest 'complaint' you might hear about that metal strip is that the housecleaning carts sometimes rattle when the room stewards are pushing the carts over them.
