Best beach in St. Thomas without sales people

Secret Harbor is a nice beach--you can rent lounge chairs and they have an excellent bar/restaurant. Snorkeling there is also very good. Morning Star beach at Marriott's Frenchman's Reef is also nice, close to where the ships dock in Havensite (Secret Harbor is a good 20 to 30 minutes away from Havensite)--the food and beverages are pricey there, and the snorkeling is not good. If you stay close to the Sand Bar, I think that the lounge chairs may be free (NOT sure about that) if you purchase food & beverage from them.:D

Really vendors are not a problem in STT. We go to Magens, Coki, and never have any problem. use to love Sapphire, but they don't have anything there any more.

Vendors are part of island life-some islands have more than others, but we have always found a simple no thanks works great. But in STT probably less than any other island as far as vendors go.

OR you can pay the $$$$ and over to St John to Trunk or Cinnamon. Then you just have to deal with the rude National Park workers and lousy beach chairs that you have to put a huge deposit down to rent. But there will be no vendors. We never go over there anymore, STT beaches/snorkeling are just as nice and lots let expensive. Locals are WAY more friendly than the workers at the parks over in St John.

We have NEVER found the national park workers in St John (or the locals), rude to deal with! They have always provided us service with a smile.

We enjoy the beaches in St John.....they are some of the best! We believe it is well worth the trip.

Agree with previous posters; locals hawking junk does not seem to be an issue at St. Thomas beaches. I've been to Meagan's Bay, Sapphire Beach, some small beach on the east side, Water Island's Honeymoon Beach and St. John's Trunk Bay and don't recall even being approached. I've been to some islands where hawkers have a heavy presence, but most will move on with a considerate, "no thank you". These guys pale in comparison to their Turkish counterparts who simply do not know the meaning of "no".
