Wine purchase - London/Southampton?

We are sailing on the Nautica from Southampton on the 17JUN 2015.

We will be staying in central London (Crown Plaza) for several days prior to the cruise and have arranged with Smiths for a private transfer from our hotel to the cruise terminal on the day of our cruise.....for those that have sailed out of Southampton before:

Do you have any suggestions of shops to purchase wine prior to boarding - in Southampton? in London? on the way?

We can have Smiths take us to the store prior to arriving at the terminal.

Thanks for your advice

There is a Tesco very near your hotel which carries very good wine selections.

They have great specials as well.

Thank you so much - just the information we needed!! We will head there and pick up our wine before heading to Southampton!

You are so welcome.

Enjoy our favorite city which we will be visiting in September/ October for the 39th time. It has long been our home away from home.

Do you really want to have bottles rattling away in the car, all the way from London to Southampton?

There is a Tesco near the port in Southampton, as someone with local knowledge will tell you on Ports of Call, but of course your choice.

We had a very nice experience purchasing our wine at Majestic Wine before boarding Nautica last Aug. We bought at a store in the Cotswolds but they have stores all over including Southampton so google them at majestic.co.uk to find one on your route. They have a 6 bottle minimum which was not a problem for us :). The selection is outstanding for European wines as well as Aus/NZ/SA wines. The staff was very knowledgeable and made some recommendations that turned out to be outstanding. Prices were good, too. :D

Enjoy, Robbie

Thanks everyone - you have all been so very helpful....

turnip eater - thanks for your advice, I did post on the ports of call forum also but have received the quickest advice from fellow Oceania travelers.

I knew I could count on Oceania cruisers to help, especially with finding great wine to take onboard and enjoy from our verandah!!!

Thanks Robbie - 6 bottle minimum will definitely not be a problem for us either:D Since it is a 20 day cruise, we will be WAY OVER their minimum!
