When is Celebrity Going Back to Mexico?

I understand that Celebrity like other cruise lines stopped going to the west coast of Mexico. I recently was on vacation in Puerto Vallarta and saw Princess, Holland America, Norwegian, and Carnival in port. They have obviously decided that it's safe. I love those cruises on the Mexican Riviera. I hope Celebrity goes back soon.

I hope they return soon. We did a Panama Canal from Ft. Lauderdale to San Francisco in 2010 on Princess (Sorry-the itinerary was better). We were "shadowed" by the Mexican Navy while in Mexican waters by a fully armed CB-90. pip21.jpg

They were not fooling around, either. Even the ports were covered by the military from high hills. I was impressed. While you're on the ground, you're on your own - take a cruise excursion. Safe? - Matter of opinion.

Aside from the Panama Canal cruise to/from Florida and California, I wouldn't hold my breath for Celebrity to home port a ship in LA or San Diego doing Mexican Riviera cruises. As long as they can command higher pier diems sailing the Caribbean and South America/Asia/Australia/NZ during Winter than the Mexican Riviera, then there is your answer why.

Keep in mind that each of the cruise lines mentioned by the OP have close to twice as many ships as Celebrity.

I'd settle for Royal Caribbean ;)

We're doing an 11 day Mexico from San Diego on NCL next year. It will be our first NCL, we never had an interest in trying them before, maybe we'll love it!

We were looking at this cruise too. Most of the complaints come from the smoking policy, food, and beds. If you have a balcony, you will smell smoke. If you're a foodie, I would go for the free specialty restaurant perk. Don't be afraid to ask for egg crates if the beds are hard, and you should have a great cruise.

We have done 15 Mexican Riviera cruises. (We live in San Diego so they are very convenient). And while we enjoyed our HAL cruises in the past, we have avoided HAL since smokers on balconies nearly ruined a 20+day b2b for us. That's one reason we sail Celebrity so much. While I have not done a Mexican Riviera cruise on HAL in a long time, if they overhaul their smoking program, I would grab a cruise. In fact, we have not even bothered to look at a HAL cruise for years. Anyone know their current smoking policy.

NCL is no smoke-free on the balconies. No smoke smell, if there is a problem phone the front desk. They send security immediately.

I think all the main dining rooms have fallen in food and service. No better or worse than NCL. NCL has more and less expensive specialty dining available. We like NCL and like Celebrity. We did the Panama Canal on NCL, that was part of a 38 day trip on NCL.

Next several cruises are planned on Celebrity

Ok, I must have read about people breaking the rules, or some ship layouts where the casino is near the buffet. Food is very subjective, but I like Celebrity best so far.

Fblack, we're only considering OV on HAL because of their smoking policy.
