Hi -

Can anyone tell me if there is a train from Civitavecchia to Orvieta that is manageable from the port? Or is better to rent a car and drive ourselves to Orvieta? Any suggestions are welcome!!!

Thanks.

The only way to get to Orvieto by train is to go all the way south to Rome, then north to Orvieto. The timing simply does not work for a port day, so it's either rent a car and drive yourself or hire a car service. There isn't even a workable bus connection.

By car it's less than two hours each way (about 75 miles).

We would add that driving yourself from Civitavecchia to Orvieto is a relatively easy drive that does not take you near any large cities. There is also plenty of parking near the entrance to Orvieto (close to the local tourist office). And while we are on the subject, some might want to consider that there is pretty good free WiFi at (and near) that same tourist office.
