Sailing out of Ft. Lauderdale on May 31st and time to look for hotels. There will 6 of us and possibly looking for a hotel that offers a suite so we can split the price. Any suggestions?? It would be for one night.

We're staying at the Embassy Suites as well. You also might look for a roll call for your cruise. Perhaps you'll get more info there.

Check out the Florida Departures board. Lots of review, recommendations, pictures, etc. One thing to keep in mind...it's going to be expensive!

Embassy Suites on 17th St. is in a good walking area- near to restaurants and shops. ES also has a restaurant. We enjoy having lunch on the patio there.

Another vote for Embassy Suites on 17th St, but here is a tip , it is much cheaper to take a taxi rather than the hotel shuttle, taxi was only about 10 dollars

We stayed at: Residence Inn Fort Lauderdale Airport & Cruise Port, 4801 Anglers Ave, Dania Beach, FL 33312, (954) 989-3636. It just opened on November 2014 and it was really nice. All rooms are suites. Free breakfast and shuttle service from airport. I think it was $6.00 per person for shuttle to port.

1 - Visit the EAST COAST DEPARTURES board here at Cruise Critic. Lots of hotel discussions.

 

2 - When posting, try to be more descriptive - maybe "Hotels in Ft Lauderdale before cruise"

 

3 - Keep in mind that suites do not always provide the best solution. You pay extra for a bigger room, and sometimes just a king bed. Sometimes, not always, 2 regular rooms are better. And, you get 2 bathrooms vs one.

 

4 - Shuttles are often more costly, especially with groups.

Just stayed at the Gallery One Hilton Doubletree. It is all suites. Four of us shared a 1 bedroom, but they do have 2 bedroom units if you book early enough. Wonderful location on the Water Taxi route, next to mall and near many restaurants. They also have a shuttle that runs to the port for $8 per person.

Another vote for the Embassy Suites.

 

You may find hotel rooms harder to find (at a reasonable rate) this close to sailing. Also sailing on May 31 and have had the Embassy Suites booked for a long time.

Good information as we are also looking for a hotel in FLL for a group.

 

May I ask are there restaurants and stores located in walking distance of the Hyatt House? Since they have shuttle from the Airport and then I understand the cruise shuttle is only $10/person we really don't want to have to rent a car unless it is absolutely necessary. Thank you for your help.

Not familiar with Hyatt location, but usually take a cab from Embassy Suites rather than pay for their shuttle - at $8 to $10 per person for the shuttle a cab is often cheaper and definitely more convenient.
