sequincruiser Posted April 8, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2015 Is it easy to get to Jerez from Cadiz on your own? If anyone has any information on buses/trains, how long it takes, how much it costs, how easy it is to get to the bodegas once there etc then I'd be grateful for your help. Would it be better to try and book a private tour instead? We are a family of 4 going in July, docking at 10am and leaving at 5pm so not enough time to go to Seville. Thank you. cruiseluv Posted April 8, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2015 There seems to be trains about once an hour, takes about 30 mins. For schedules go to http://www.renfe.com . There're also buses but the schedules are a bit confusing. Anyways, buses seem to be less frequent and take close to an hour. http://siu.cmtbc.es/es/horarios_origen_destino.php?ida=1&vuelta=14 I've been in Cadiz twice, first time stayed there, second time went to Jerez and toured the town and the bodegas ( we went with a ship's tour). Frankly, I wasnt that impressed with Jerez and if I were to stop again in Cadiz I would just stay there, its a very pleasant city.
Rare Hlitner Posted April 8, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 8, 2015 Just keep in mind that some of the popular sherry producers have specific hours for tours and sometimes require an advance reservation. So do your pre-trip homework :). DW and I have really enjoyed our visits to Jerez! Hank
syesmar Posted April 12, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 12, 2015 (edited) We went from Cadiz to Jerez and it was well worth our time! We visited the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art. We took the train, buying our ticket at the station. As I recall, from where our ship was docked, we walked leftward to reach the train station. Once in Jerez, we took a taxi to see the horses, and took a bus back to the station (they wouldn't call a taxi for us, but gave us directions to the bus stop). It's been a while and I'm rusty on specifics, but search the board here and also trip advisor for more detailed logistics. Cadiz was delightful and we so enjoyed our afternoon & evening there, as well! Enjoy Spain! Edited April 12, 2015 by syesmar
