Stay away from Epic Haven Cabin 16025

I love the Epic and the Haven and the rooms but this one is particularly noisy due to some door from underneath. I went the hotel manager after not being able to fall asleep at night (till about 1am) due to the slamming of a door then was awakened every morning at 5 or 6 am. It's either a staff entry door to the buffet restaurant or some very large freezer/fridge door. It would slam intermittently making me think it was staff entry. Looking at the floor plans online I cannot tell. The slam was so big it would even shake the bed. After 5 days of vacation with very little sleep we went to the hotel manager. Very nice gentleman who said he would look in to it. Afterwards the slamming at night didn't go away but in the morning I would only hear it a few times. Either I was so tired I finally was able to sleep through it or he was able to have it propped for the early hours.

In addition, oddly, in front of the slider door to the balcony and in the bathroom just before the tiled portion, the carpet hand huge sink holes that always seemed damp. Round and about 18" in diameter. Maybe this will be fixed on the trip over to Europe? Kinda grossed me out. I never asked about it.

We stayed in 16021 last year and did not have either of these issues.

We were in the same cabin and experienced the same noise. We only heard it at night, and it was infrequent, but was occasionally very loud. Mentioned it to the concierge and he thought it might be another cabin door slamming, and offered to look into it - never got an answer though. For us it didn't happen enough to be a huge issue, but I agree that it was annoying.

Also saw the 'holes'. We didn't notice them at first, but they became more apparent as the week went on. In general, the carpet in that cabin is in need of replacement.

Overall, we liked the location of the cabin as it was close to the side door plus near the bars and haven pool. But it sounds like you had a worse experience with that slamming - if it was any worse for us, it would have been a problem.

Crockea, just curious: how was your butler service? We almost never saw the guy, and when we did, we didn't find him overly helpful. Hoping that it was just an off week for the guy. . .

Our Butler was Jomar. We saw him enough. And when we did need him he answered the phone quickly. This was our 4th time on the Epic in a Haven suite. The 1st time ever, back in 2011, the butlers did everything for us (escorted us to shows etc). Then when we were back in 2013 the Concierge took over and we didn't see our butlers at all. This time was a mix of both. Were you on the same sailing as us this time?

I think we were on the week before you. We debarked on April 5

Interestingly enough, I checked CDP and they even have a warning about that room and slamming doors. It doesn't look like any pax rooms under that room - more like the buffet so whoever told you it was a pax room just made it up.

It makes me smile when I see people complain about insignificant things. Sorry they couldn't stop what they were doing on the ship just to accommodate you

If I don't get sufficient sleep on a cruise, it had better be my choice. Otherwise, it's significant. Given the price paid for a Haven cabin, I would be upset and I sympathise with the OP.

I believe the CDP is Cruise deck plans. Great site for information. Lots of warnings like this, or when the balcony is metal, when there are vents, noise from disco etc. Also, lots of pictures. It is a paid subscription, but worth every penny to pick the right cabin.

Well, sorry I totally disagree. You pay for quiet when you go to bed, and this was and Is very unsatisfactory.

Sorry Motleyfan, no support from me this time. It greatly bothered them so therefore it was definitely significant. Just like for smokers, the smoke is insignificant. But for non-smokers, it's hugely significant. Me thinks you would have a different opinion if you had been staying in their cabin.

Crockea, we had a similar experience on the Jewel years ago. We chose a suite directly under the fitness center. The free weights to be exact. 5a it started, every morning. Directly over our bed. Sounded like they were coming through the ceiling. Sad thing was, I chose the cabin and could have just as easily picked the starboard side one which, get this, was under the library! As in probably the one room on the ship that is least used. Lol. Live and learn I guess. Never made that mistake again.

P.S. That cruise deck plan site has been worth every penny. Thousands of pictures from every mainline cruise company. We joined years ago when it was a one-time fee. I think now it's an annual subscription. If you cruise frequently (one time a year or more) I would highly suggest joining.

Someone states they are miserable from sleep deprivation and you SMILE? That's just not right.

I appreciate that they came on here to warn others. Here is a complaint that is actually valid. This was a suite to boot!

A little compassion maybe? Just a bit? C'mon? You can do it.

I just want to point out that you don't need to subscribe to CDP to see the general information about the cabins, decks and pics. I use it all the time and you can get free information. I just went now and was able to see the complaints about this cabin. Just click over the star and you will see it

I for one appreciate the respectful way the OP presented their observations and thought of it more as helpful information for others rather than complaining.

Situation was brought to the attention of the correct people while on board and in addition to it not being fully corrected, it sounds like a concern others have had as well. Nobody is asking for money or a free cruise and I didn't sense a cruise was ruined.

Somebody is here helping others and you just don't need the help - good on you.

I have to agree with everyone else -- this is a completely reasonable complaint, and could have a real impact on the quality of their trip. I know I don't get to cruise often, so when I do, it's a huge deal for me, and I go without all year to pay for it -- so to have repeated loud noises slamming the room during anytime during the trip, but particularly at night would not be acceptable. And even if I could cruise several times a year instead of once every 8 years or so, it would still be unacceptable. If it happened a few times, that would be different, but this sounds like a fairly regular, every night thing.

I, too, can attest to this being an undesirable suite. I know this is much later than the OP, but I want to warn folks. Specifically, below 16025 is the Garden Court. There are two 5-foot steel fire doors that are ordinarily open while the Garden Court is actively serving passengers (during my cruise, these doors in the Garden Court were numbered 15-2-23).

The doors slamming starts at about 5:30 am when the breakfast shift comes on. Every time they bring food in or out of the kitchen, the 5-foot steel doors slam shut. Once the service begins (and the doors are kept open to allow passengers to use the tables in this area of the Garden Court), the slamming stops. But at other times (e.g., in the afternoon when the Garden Court closes and they get ready for dinner), the slamming resumes. And the slamming begins again after they close for the night at 11 or 12 pm (which lasts for about an hour or more).

I spoke with the early morning Garden Court manager as well as another manager (Ritchie) throughout the cruise. The slamming doors never subsided.

Duly warned... and I hope that the details about the scope of the issue (5 ft steel fire doors, timing and reasons for the timing of early morning, late night, and even late PM nap time), informs the poster who smiles at insignificant complaints. Spending more than $10k for a weeklong cruise vacation for 2 entitles the passenger to a modicum of opportunity for R&R in the early morning and late night.
