Donsyb Posted April 16, 2015 #27 Share Posted April 16, 2015 When I got the confirmation email from them telling me I'm on classic 2 dining. explaining to me how it works etc. Did it actually say it was on Quantum though? Everything they've said up to now was that it would launch on Anthem?

Stitchman Posted April 17, 2015 Author #29 Share Posted April 17, 2015 incidentally, just curious ........ If dynamic dining is such a disaster (which evidentially it is), why are they going to introduce on to the other boats ??
Donsyb Posted April 17, 2015 #30 Share Posted April 17, 2015 incidentally, just curious ........ If dynamic dining is such a disaster (which evidentially it is), why are they going to introduce on to the other boats ?? Um because it isn't?? Yes some people hate it, because they want traditional MDR with the same people, same waiters, who don't want to plan and book things (and have formal nights ;) ) Classic has been designed for these people. Other people love the variety and flexibility. If you read EVERY review you'll get about a 50/50 split (if you ignore some teething troubles with lack of staff etc). See post #30 on the below link from Hoopster95 who sums it up pretty well http://cruiseforums.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2197469&page=
Little Buddy's Mom Posted April 17, 2015 #31 Share Posted April 17, 2015 I thought this thread might be about another even higher level of "Service Animal" onboard! LOL. I am wondering what "elephant in the room" has to do with dining? I thought the O.P. might know what animal is going to be on the Ovation.:D

SausPud Posted April 18, 2015 #36 Share Posted April 18, 2015 Stitchman, can you copy and paste the email in to a post so we can all read it. That would be great. I do believe that it might just be telling you, that on Dynamic Classic, you WILL have 2 formal dinners and need to pack appropriate clothing. Where as if you reserved all your own restaurants under Dynamic Dining, then you could have none, one, two or more Grande formal dinners booked and you would know in advance what you are doing. If RCCL didn't send this email, people would complain that on Classic, they were not told about Grande having Formal attire dress code and didn't pack any formal clothes. Even though it is just dinner and not a meet and greet with the Captain (which I always love and will miss from Anthem) with cocktails, RCCL still class it as a formal evening. Does anyone know if we still get a Captains COcktail party on Quantum Class ships?

Stitchman Posted April 18, 2015 Author #38 Share Posted April 18, 2015 Yea.... difficult for some folks to write meaningful titles.... if you'd seen all my other efforts of posting that they kept moving, ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM was very apt. It was meaningful if you had a bit of an idea what I was getting at. well at least you do now :)

SausPud Posted April 18, 2015 #43 Share Posted April 18, 2015 Here is the letter sent to Stitchman: "Dear Stitchman, Many thanks for your email. Allow me to advised that you will have 2 formal nights on your 10 night cruise. I have added the web address where it indicates the formal nights and wardrobe. http://www.royalcaribbean.com/beforeyouboard/whatToKnow/whatToPack.do Hope this answers your enquiry. Kind Regards, Monica Garcia Guest Support Unit Royal Caribbean International & Azamara Club Cruises UK & Ireland Guest & Trade Services Building 3 The Heights, Brooklands, Weybridge, Surrey, KT13 0NY" And what's more fun is that if you click on the link and read what you can and can not take, a KETTLE is not mentioned but coffee machine is. This email looks like it's intended for a normal RCCL Cruise and is saying Formal Nights i.e. meet Captain and crew, have a drink, everyone dress up. Don't think that is going to happen, worth printing it out and taking on board. See Guest Services and complain, might get OBC.

I think that's going a little bit far saying that Monica is lying to you. Is she undertrained...yes Could she have asked someone else if she was unsure...yes Did she give you the wrong answer....yes Did she do it deliberately or maliciously ....no. She made a mistake. Unfortunately that is all too common with the RCI reps.
