Releasing the holds depends on the card issuer, they have different policies.

It's up to the issuer, bank or credit union, whoever. Reports are one day to one month. NCL has no say in it.

I used one once which took exactly 30 days, just like they said it would. There wasn't anything that could be done about it.

I have used debit cards. When I checked in they said they were putting a $300 hold on it. I checked my bank 2 days later and it wasn't there. Not sure if it was just me or what happened but there was no hold.

Holds on debit cards cover a wide spectrum, which is one reason that you should never, ever use a debit card for your onboard account.

I've used a debit card three times. I honestly can't remember the details of the first time. The second time (in 2012) took ten days, and the third (in 2014) took seven.

I always use a separate vacation account- never the one I use for bills and daily expenses.

I've never had a problem. :eek:
