using on-board credits question

I have an upcoming cruise in July. I have $700 in on board credits to use. When I go on the HAL website to book excursions, it requires me to use my credit card to pay when reserving the excursion. Is there a way I can use on-board credits to pay for excursions when reserving prior to embarkation (like now)?

No, unfortunately not. If you book your excursions while onboard, then your OBC will be used. Believe it or not, that $700 can go fast. :D We had $1050 in OBC our last cruise (15 days) and even though we booked all our excursions ahead of time, we had no problem "spending" it all. Your daily hotel charge, anything you buy, dinners and lunches in the Pinnacle or Canaletto, anything other than the casino will be applied towards your OBC.

Shipboard credit is used up fast.

If there is an excursion you feel will be sold out by the time you get on the ship -- you really have no choice but to pay for it now.

Shipboard credit from what I understand can now be used in the casino.

Also any specialty restaurants you pre-book must be paid for via credit card.

Sorry as other have said no, you have to pay for anything you book before you cruise. Though if you cancel it, you will get credit back in your on board account.
