As You Wish Dining with Party of 11

We will be traveling to Alaska on the Westerdam in a group of 11. Because we booked late, we have As You Wish Dining. Any suggestions on how we can sit together at dinner time?

There aren't any tables that seat 11 people.

Ask for 2 tables of 6 side by side. That way you can all switch around each evening.

You will likely have to be seated at two tables.

 

there is a table on lower level port side just under the railing of the upper level that could possibly accommodate 11 if chairs are very close. It is worth speaking with Dining Room Manager first day to inquire. It is an elongated oval.

They do have a couple of tables that might fit your 11 but you will have to go talk to the MDR manager and see what you can work out. I would do that on the day you board.

Just speaking personally, I would rather have the 2 tables of six. If you have a huge table, you may not be able to hear each other.

I wouldn't count on 'easy' but the earlier you speak with the Dining Room Manager, the better your chances. You will find the daily program on the counter in your cabin when you enter and in the program, they will list where you can find the Dining Room Manager or his Asst.

The first evening might be a problem as everything is a mess with trying to get tables straightened out in both fixed seating and open seating.

But you should not have a problem after that.

We sat a table by the railing on one cruise and each evening an Indonesian group of 12 came in and were seated at the same 2 tables below us in open seating.

Several times we were seated at tables for 10 (special occasions) and it was impossible to talk to the people on the other side of the table.

I agree with the people who recommend two tables. It's hard to talk when the table gets too large. We try to limit tables to 6 people, and would rotate people between tables to mix things up. Even if you have two tables next to one another, you'll probably have 90% of your conversation with those whom you are seated.
