sredish Posted April 22, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2015 (edited) Hi there, We will be in GC in October on RCCI, and would like to bring our own masks and do some self-snorkeling off the beach. Can anyone recommend a nice spot to take a taxi or walk to from the port? Thank you! Edited April 22, 2015 by sredish
10th Anniversary Posted April 23, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 23, 2015 You can turn right out of the cruise terminal and walk about 5 minutes to Eden Rock and Devil's Grotto. Or you can turn left out of the cruise terminal and walk 5 minutes to Wreak of Cali or walk 10 minutes to Cheese Burger Reef.

sredish Posted April 23, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted April 23, 2015 Or turn right walk 20 min to The Sunset House for great snorkeling, food and drink.http://www.sunsethouse.com/ I looked this up just now...is it just for diving and do you have to book their package? Or can you just show up, enjoy their space/food/drinks and snorkel on your own with your own stuff?

Let them know at "My bar" that you are going to snorkel and that you will be having some lunch or a few drinks. They are very friendly.
Capt_BJ Posted April 23, 2015 #6 Share Posted April 23, 2015 be aware that snorkeling at Sunset is "big boy/girl" snorkeling the water will be too deep for standing . . . I like the place a lot, but this is not a beginner location ....
OCruisers Posted April 23, 2015 #7 Share Posted April 23, 2015 Same is true for Eden Rock ... not the best place for a beginner. ;) LuLu
flyboi Posted June 15, 2015 #8 Share Posted June 15, 2015 (edited) Great close to shore/shallow snorkeling between Edens and the Paradise restaurant....and a bit further north. Lotsa big Tarpon and colorful fish among the small coral. Just cruise along between the two places. Edited June 15, 2015 by flyboi
Krazy 4 Dogs Posted June 20, 2015 #9 Share Posted June 20, 2015 (edited) Hi! This site may help. We have snorkeled at Eden Rock and loved it. We may try one of the other places next time. Have Fun! http://*******************.com/Snorkel1.htm If the link gives you trouble, it's cayman activity guide.com (but no spaces) Edited June 20, 2015 by Krazy 4 Dogs
kwbound Posted June 22, 2015 #10 Share Posted June 22, 2015 We snorkeled once at Eden Rock, and it was ok. There were some jelly fish although we didn't get stung. Water was a little rough the day we were there. We got out, caught a taxi and had him take us to Cemetery Beach, which I think is at the far end of Seven Mile Beach. It was BEAUTIFUL. There was no one else at the beach and the water was super calm. You walk in a sandy entry and fish start swimming around you. You swim out a little ways to find the reef. Visibility was great, water was calm, there was lots of sea life and no crowds. When we were finished snorkeling, we walked down the beach until we came to a bar/restaurant (it was a pretty good hike in the sand!). There we had a drink and then went to the road and caught a van back to town. If we go back to Grand Cayman, we'll probably go back to that beach.
