Am I missing something?

 

We have started booking independently because it's usually cheaper, but this time it does not appear to be the case.

 

Are there restrictions? time constraints etc for booking through the ship?

Check the time frame for the ship excursion - usually limited vs. come and go when you want on your own. Some complaints in earlier posts that ship excursion was limited to 4-5 hours.

R/t taxi will run about $30-35, depending slightly upon which pier you are at.

Yes, I was figuring $15-20 one way.

 

Still adding $30-$40 onto $230 is still cheaper then the ones offered with transfers. Seems NCL offers one with transfers and one without, as does the Playa mia website directly.

 

So since the cost is the same I am wondering what other differences there may be.

Shorter time allowed, areas we cant go etc.

To me seems like a no brainer. Go with the NCL excursion.

 

Seriously, 4-5 hours is enough of a beach day. At least in my opinion. I don't see how it can be much more than that?

There will not be any difference at all, especially if you use your own transport. The folks at Playa Mia will not have any idea how you paid for the service.
