WestLakeGirl Posted April 27, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 27, 2015 (edited) Leaving Celebrity, coming to Royal Princess (perry grant fans). Can someone point us to a key to the stateroom codes as shown on deck plans, what do the different letters/colors mean? Specifically interested in which codes are used for obstructed verandah cabins. IECalCruiser Posted April 27, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 27, 2015 Leaving Celebrity, coming to Royal Princess (perry grant fans). Can someone point us to a key to the stateroom codes as shown on deck plans, what do the different letters/colors mean? Specifically interested in which codes are used for obstructed verandah cabins. The document describes the current Princess cabin categorization system. The category denotation letters U-Z are used for obstructed cabins and the letters vary by location and desirability (as defined by Princess). Note that the colors in the document do not match the colors on the deckplans. On the Royal the obstructed balcony cabins are primarily on Emerald deck (BV, BW and BY and DV, DW and DZ) with some DZ cabins all the way forward on Marina and Lido decks. The balcony cabins "B" only have a chair in the cabin while the deluxe balcony cabins "D" have a loveseat. The deluxe balcony category cabins are only on the Royal and Regal.Fleet Recategorization Announcement.pdf

Pam in CA Posted April 27, 2015 #6 Share Posted April 27, 2015 (edited) Specifically interested in which codes are used for obstructed verandah cabins.Just FYI, I had E703 on the Royal which is a BE obstructed view balcony cabin. Great location, only obstruction was seeing the back of a tender if I was looking forward. Nothing to the sides or out to sea. This is one of the less-expensive locations. "E" means Emerald deck and any of the 700 # cabins on Emerald deck are similar. Princess identifies decks by name rather than number which can get confusing. :) Passenger decks are: P = Plaza deck E = Emerald deck D = Dolphin deck C = Caribe deck B = Baja deck A = Aloha deck R = Riviera deck M = Marina deck L = Sun deck Edited April 27, 2015 by Pam in CA
rdsqrl Posted April 27, 2015 #7 Share Posted April 27, 2015 The codes don't tell you anything about how obstructed a specific balcony is, if that's your concern. Your best bet to find that out is to look at this website: https://sites.google.com/site/cabinviewbyrenmar/ And also to do a google image search if you have a specific cabin number in mind. One poster here has many photographs of the ship annotated with cabin numbers; the easiest way to find them is by doing a google search. You can search the boards, but that's more unwieldy if you're just looking for photos. Basically, I don't consider any of the obstructed balcony cabins to be truly obstructed. It's not like a window cabin, where the tender can totally block any view -- worst case on a balcony cabin, you can still see the sky/horizon.
