tulips*n*truffles Posted April 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 29, 2015 Hello! The countdown to our grand med cruise has begun and of course there are always more and more reports of security issues right where we're headed. I have no fear of something happening (just can't live life like that!!), but I wondered what happens if an area is deemed not appropriate for travel? Will there just be a change in itinerary? Another sea day? News about Rome this morning caught my attention to it. I'm a go with the flow gal and wouldn't put up a fuss regardless, but wondered where we might head in place of one of our scheduled ports. Thanks!! sunsetbeachgal Posted April 29, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 29, 2015 (edited) Another thread just reported that on their cruise a stop in Tunisia was announced that it was cancelled and replaced by a stop in Malta. I have done the Grand Med. itinerary a couple of times and it is great. I have not read of any recent world events that would cause a port substitution or cancellation on that itinerary. On our Grand Med. trip in July, 2013 the stop in Mykynos was cancelled by the Captain but that was due to rough seas, and we had an extra sea day. paul929207 Posted April 29, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 29, 2015 If Princess deems a port unsafe, they will drop the port from the itinerary. If possible, they will substitute another. However, sometimes it becomes a sea day. The only compensation is refund of the port charges and ship tours.
