CruisesOnMyMind Posted May 1, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 1, 2015 (edited) We have hired Michael Felgate http://www.a2btaxisharwich.com for May 30th to take us to Gatwick. The company was highly recommended and is local in Harwich. Welcome to CC's. Edited May 1, 2015 by CruisesOnMyMind
celle Posted May 2, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 2, 2015 If you're talking to anyone about the town, remember to say " Harridge" or "Harritch," not "Har-witch" or "Har-wick". Confusing, yes?

sddsddean Posted May 10, 2015 #7 Share Posted May 10, 2015 Just so you know (I'm sure you do!), you are trying to get from 70 miles NE of London to 30 miles south of London on a Monday morning. Traffic will be a nightmare! If you have no time constraints, this is not a problem, but leave as late as you can. If you want a public transport option, get the train from Harwich International (code HPQ) right beside the ship to London Liverpool Street (0903 train goes direct, 0933 [and every hour after that] you have to change at Manningtree, but you only have to walk 20 feet across the platform and trains are timed to meet). Be aware this is a commuter route, so early trains will be crowded...again, leave as late as possible. Although tube train across London is included in your fare, forget it! Grab a cab to London Bridge station (about £10) and get the train to Gatwick Airport (code GTW). The train fare is £46.50, so 2 of you can do it for just over £100 in 2hrs 45 mins, which will be much quicker than road. Just giving you options. Train details here (Ignore the Stratford stop, go straight to London Liverpool Street). http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/service/timesandfares/results?edit=true#num2 Simon
Rare Turtles06 Posted May 13, 2015 #8 Share Posted May 13, 2015 Based on a local recommendation, about 18 mos ago we used Harwich Taxis to take us from LHR to our hotel in Harwich. They were very easy to deal with to set things up via email, and our driver was waiting at the airport bright and early for us when we got off the plane after our overnight flight from the U.S. It was a flat rate for the trip, pricey of course given the distance, but for us a far better option than having to go into London (with all our luggage) to get the train to Harwich. http://www.harwichtaxis.com/
