askworldtraveler Posted May 3, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2015 Departing on the Oosterdam on May 4. (yeah!). Embarkation starts at 1pm. Departure from port is 11PM. What time will the drill be? I'm not sure what time we plan to board - It could be quite a bit later then 1pm nor do I know if I would even be awake for the sail away. (time changes and all). Any thoughts? Guidance. Many thanks! PathfinderEss Posted May 3, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 3, 2015 Usually the boat drill would starts about 4:15 but with that late of sail time, I have no idea.
phabric Posted May 3, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 3, 2015 Do you bring the life jacket with you?
catl331 Posted May 3, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 3, 2015 I would expect the drill to be in the afternoon, around 4:00, with a "makeup" around 10:00 for anyone who was not aboard for the early one. Do you bring the life jacket with you? No
catl331 Posted May 3, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 3, 2015 life jackets stay in room. Make sure you know how to put them on correctly and where they are in your room
Alaska05 Posted May 3, 2015 #6 Share Posted May 3, 2015 I'm familiar with how Princess does lifeboat drills which have been after sailaway and you don't go to your actual muster station. I understand HAL is different. From above it says you don't take life vests. Do you go to your actual muster station and does it take place BEFORE sailaway? Thanks. We'll be on Oosterdam 1 week from today. Yeah!

Can take between 15 and 30 minutes depending on stragglers. btw - like your avatar! Rich (Slackware user)

I see by your signature that your last Princess cruise was 7/07. Since the Costa Concordia disaster in 1/12 I believe that all cruise lines do the drill before sailaway.
