dudput Posted May 7, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 7, 2015 I realize you can not use obc for gratuities/service charges, but can you use your obc in the casino? Can you use for slots or blackjack?
Kamloops50 Posted May 7, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 7, 2015 Some of the OBC can't be used in the casino.
dudput Posted May 7, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted May 7, 2015 What part? I asked NCL and they stated anything except gratuities.
morrisretired Posted May 7, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 7, 2015 We had a $300 OBC to use up from Norwegian, for our Western Caribbean cruise on the Jewel out of Houston, back in March. We went to the casino cage and signed a $100 room charge 3 times. They charged us 3% ($3) each time. We hesitated to get it all at once. You get the cash, and just walk off with it. We already had the free Ultimate Dining and Ultimate Beverage Packages, from a promotion when we booked at the last minute. It worked out for us. vince_g Posted May 7, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 7, 2015 (edited) I realize you can not use obc for gratuities/service charges, but can you use your obc in the casino? Can you use for slots or blackjack? OBC certificates sold online could be used in the casino or for DSC. You could buy those if you didn't want to carry all that cash. You could probably use an NCL gift card. As for OBC gifted to you by your TA or thru other promotions, it may or may not be usable. NMLady Posted May 8, 2015 #6 Share Posted May 8, 2015 I realize you can not use obc for gratuities/service charges, but can you use your obc in the casino? Can you use for slots or blackjack? Getting cash from your onboard account, even if it is obc, is subject to 3% 'cash advance' fee.
dudput Posted May 8, 2015 Author #7 Share Posted May 8, 2015 Thank you. I was mostly concerned with the response that some obc can be used in the casino and some can't.
KaralotStables Posted May 8, 2015 #8 Share Posted May 8, 2015 Getting cash from your onboard account, even if it is obc, is subject to 3% 'cash advance' fee. I have deposited cash instead of giving NCL credit/debit card access for OBC. When disembarking, NCL will give me my used funds back in cash, if requested. Will I be paying a 3% charge to use the cash I deposited?
kateyk333 Posted December 23, 2015 #9 Share Posted December 23, 2015 Hi, Did anyone answer this? If we send front money, will we be charged a convenience fee to access it? Thanks!!

I don't think you'll get your leftover purchased obc in cash. i think they mail a check. Even if you deposited cash I don't think you can get cash. The deposit is for your onboard charges. casofilia Posted December 24, 2015 #11 Share Posted December 24, 2015 I bet that if you deposit cash for your OBC then you may be subjected to the $50 limit for cash being returned. I would check with NCL your position as usually any refund is returned to you as a cheque to your home address. Mike

Can you use for slots or blackjack? It is possible that your OBC can be used for the service charges, it all depends on how it was obtained. If it is paid for it is the same as cash and can be used for anything, if it is free from NCL, then its use and refund is limited.
kunta67 Posted January 4, 2016 #13 Share Posted January 4, 2016 If I want to put in $1000 in OBC to be used as a credit for the casino, my understanding is that it's subject to the 3% fee? Also is there way to get that fee waived if we're Total Rewards Diamond members?
Moby0215 Posted January 4, 2016 #14 Share Posted January 4, 2016 Any money debited from your onboard account in the casino will have a 3% fee. (Some high rollers and possibly other statuses excepted). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Isn't the 3% fee only applied if you take out any OBC as cash? If you use your room key to put money in the machines I don't see the fee being applied.
