tipping for excursions

There have been numerous posts regarding tipping on the Paul Gauguin (Crew Appreciation Fund). What about tipping for excursions - both those through the PG and those booked independently? Is tipping for exceptional service acceptable or even expected by excursion providers? We greatly appreciate the advice of all the experts on this forum!

We didn't tip for any excursions. We did send a donation to Dr. Poole's research fund.

Also did not tip. But, I saw many people tipping Mark on "Trails of the Ancients Tour", and as he had his hand right out, assume this is not unusual.

We tip for excursions.

When we know the operators we ask them if they would like something specific. Dr Poole told me his wife enjoys Baileys and Ato told me he likes Rum.

We tipped for our excursions although I'm not sure it was expected the receiver always looked surprised and were most grateful :-)
