Drink Packages Out of Galveston?

Recommended Posts

Hi: I have heard that the inclusive drink packages (alcohol) are not available on the first day of a cruise out of Galveston. Supposedly you can purchase them, but cannot use them until the second day of the cruise. Anyone know if this is true and, if so, is there a price reduction? Thanks!

You can use them. We have twice. But until the ship hits international waters, the selection is limited. Texas laws requires that all liquor served must be served with a Texas liquor stamp (taxes). Once in open water, your pkg will give you open bar!

Enjoy your cruise.

So does "limited selection" mean only beer and no hard stuff?

No, there is hard stuff too. But, the selection of beer, wine and liquor is smaller. The cruise lines could offer more if they bought more bonded liquor, but they choose to carry a smaller supply of liquor on which the Texas tax has been paid. (More expensive). As soon as you get out to international waters they change the bar menus to the full selection.

you may both purchase and use immediately upon boareding.

what is SERVED/available is limited until they get out of range of Texas.

for instance, no Jack Daniels until Dinner.
