Live from the Breakaway

Sailing on the Breakaway with 10 of our cruising friends. All but us are first time Breakaway cruisers. We all have Haven Aft cabins. Everyone is amazed! We booked our restaurants months ago! None of us have UDP or UBP...we just received $400 OBC when we booked a year ago. We ate at Cagneys last night. We're in Moderno tomorrow and the Chef's table later this week. Everything is even better than last year for us! We're in the same cabin. I was worried because of all the complaints...evidently the changes don't effect us or our friends!

I bought 1000 mega bites for $125.....I'll never use them up and I go through minutes like crazy. This is a plus for NCL!

Any questions?

Please try taking a plate of wings from O'Sheehans for me and send us a thumbs up picture of the wings making it back to your balcony [emoji3][emoji106]🏻 that would put my mind at ease

We all have Haven Aft cabins. Everyone is amazed!

We have a Haven aft cabin (14872) booked for Bermuda next year. After looking at the options, we decided the extra space, true 1-bedroom, and larger balcony justified not being right next to the Haven. Still, I occasionally wonder if we'd be happier up on deck 16.

What has your experience in the aft cabins been like?

thanks for this happy post!!

I do have a question regarding dining.

I have tried to make online reservations for 9 people for the 1st night in the Manhattan room and saw I could only book for 8 or 12. When I called NCL I was told the same. I was told to book for 8 and when I got on board I could add 1 one. I really just wanted to book and get it done with. I don't know if you have heard of anyone with this problem.

As for the specialty restaurants do you think we can do this when we get on board? Our group has diverse likings and we have 3 teenagers traveling with us.

Glad you are finding things have improved. Having never having been on this ship I was getting concerned with all the negativism.

Our travel agent took care of everything for our group. We all paid via our own cc when booked everything. I would suggest booking those restaurants in the UDP be booked before boarding. We are dining at Ocean Blue on Wednesday night. Our friends are so happy we let them in on the Haven secret.

Two of our friends have problems walking...they are loving the exercise. I wear my Fitbit to make sure I get my 10000 steps! Everyone loves their aft suite. My travel agent is blown away by it. All of us are suite people so we're not comparing apples to oranges. Everything is wonderful thus far...no issues at all!

We saw second city last night. You need reservations for the adult version. We thought it was fun! Sitting on my balcony writing these notes.

We're back on the Breakaway same time next year...same cabin etc. the ship seems "calmer" to me. Guests are polite and very few screaming kids. The crew is wonderful. Casino is a little smoky but all casinos are..

All 12 of us are having an amazing cruise!

Wait, so you can buy megs instead of minutes? If so, that is the way to do it. Never buy internet based on time. Unfortunately, I know most cruise lines still charge by time.

What is your Haven secret? Will be on the Breakaway 6/14 in a Haven Spa suite.

You are allowed to take drinks away from the bar area, and back to the room. The article that people thought said you couldn't was poorly worded, that's where the confusion came from.

Yep....1000 Meg's $125! We think it's a screaming deal! We used to run up Internet charges well over $250. We'll never use the 1000 Megs!

We've never been in a suite where you get the benefits of a Haven. Most suites are just big cabins. All 12 of us love our aft Haven suites...there is usually one complainer in a group.

Is this a special promo or anyone can get it?

I've bought 400 megs package on our last couple DCL cruises and have lasted all 7 nights, with twitter and FB, and email always on. Buying the minutes before that was really bad, $100-150 and had always to be worried I left the internet on idle.

Yay for bandwidth-based Internet! :)

debarked sunday from this cruise, what a great experience. No drink police which was great (esp when you bring your own booze) and the staff and ship were just incredible overall. If you bring some of those o'sheehans wings back to your room, grab me some of that amazing blue cheese :D

Awesome! I was a bit worried about that. While I'm not hopelessly connected, I do like to keep an eye on the basics, specially on sea-faring days.

Edit: So this makes the 250 free minutes promo even less attractive :)

I am going first time in this ship in haven aft 12304. Very excited. How are the butler/concierge being outside of the actual haven area?

Our party has both Haven Aft suites on decks 9 and 12, plus another group on 11 and 10. Everyone is thrilled with their suites and butlers. The most skeptic of our group is in love with the Haven and her suite!

Age range is 45 to 90 so I was very concerned after reading the posts here on CC. Everyone loves it as much as we do....like I said earlier it's even better than last year!

I was in a Haven aft-Penthouse on Breakaway last year, and it was FABULOUS. The balcony was a dream and completely worth the walk to the front of the ship. You don't mention who you are traveling with -- for us it was just myself, husband, and our 8-year-old daughter. If you don't have any mobility or age issues, then the walk to and from the Haven lounge is more of an adventure than a hassle.

This year we sailed on Epic (I know, different ship class) in a forward-facing Haven suite. We had to make this choice as we sailed with my elderly parents and I needed them to be near the Haven restaurant/amentities -- the ship was just too big for my dad to traverse. The suite itself was very nice, although slightly smaller than our aft cabin, but where the room lost a LOT was the balcony! If you plan to use and take advantage of balcony space (breakfast outside, pre-dinner drinks and apps, just lounging and reading a book), then know that you have made the right decision.

This is exactly what I was hoping to hear, thank you.

It will be just me and my husband, but we like the extra living space and separate bedroom, and we spend a LOT of time on the balcony. (We have become badly spoiled by the one-bedroom suites on Disney's ships.) The Penthouse Suites adjacent to the Haven were a turnoff because of the lack of a separate bedroom and the very small balconies.

We considered bumping up to an Owner's Suite for the extra space, but our travel agent suggested we consider one of the Aft-Facing Penthouse Suites instead, which gives us nearly as much space for almost $3000 less.

We have no mobility issues, so the walk up to the Haven is not a problem for us (frankly, a little extra exercise can only be a good thing).

Thanks again!

This is great to hear. If all of you are happy, I feel reassured that we made the right choice.

Enjoy the rest of your trip!
