Breakaway Restaurant Reservations

I know we can reserve shows 45 days before departure but what if I want to make dinner reservations for the main dining room ? Can that be done ahead ?

Quick answer is No. On NCL main dining room is open seating like a land-based restaurant. Occasionally the m'd will take reservations if you have a party of 8 or more, but only when you're on board. That's so they'll have time to set up the table.

Keeping up with ship-specific and fleet-wide changes, including policies and new testings by NCL aren't easy these days. But, our recent experience sailing BA toward the end of March was that - yest, we can & did manage to book MDR restaurants for dinner in advance, as much as 90 days out (100 days for Haven/Suite) - did that ourselves for Savor, Taste & the Manhattan Room and it was just 2 of us, since we prefer the small table - given the choice, otherwise sailing usually with the bigger "gang" in multiple cabins.

Breakfast & Lunch in the MDR (when open on full Sea Days) is open seating and no reservations taken, however.

Most of our tables had been next to the big picture windows, where on Day #1 - the hostess came by to check on us 5 times during one sitting.

YMMV with all the "enhancements" ... of course.

Just log into MyNCL to view & book them, you can print out the details to keep for reference as the iConcierge APP does not keep track of them onboard nor do you get reminders of your confirmed booking time - you can, however, see the hosttess onboard & they can check their systems and make changes, when possible.

This is old info. Online MDR reservations became possible for all last year.
