Most likely we will head up to Market Street as there was an eatery I saw on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives that I would really like to hit. :D

When we make our stop in Victoria we are taking the ship's tour to Butchart Gardens in hopes that it will be in full bloom in late Spring.

I'll be following along too! I've never been on the Jewel but will be on her September 18 for the reverse trip Vancouver, B.C. down to L.A.! Can't wait to hear about the ship although I've been on Serenade!

I'm also looking forward to the Sept 18 cruise. Did a very similar cruise on Celebrity a number of years ago. Check out the roll call if you have not done so - several planned private tours arranged.

I'm following along! We sail on the Jewel (to Alaska) in 19 days! Can wait to see some of the pics when you board. We're also heading to California for a short trip in July though, so I'll enjoy seeing your CA plans, too.:)

My in-laws and their friends are going on this trip. I saw the itinerary advertised somewhere and mentioned it to them when we were out for breakfast one Sunday and they ran home and booked it. It looks wonderful. Jealous I can't be there.

We love next to Newport Beach and love taking the flyer over to Catalina.. our first stop is always the Original Antonio's Pizzeria.. it's not the big one on the water, but on one of the side streets, 114 Sumner. It's a hole in the wall, with 50's attitude, peanuts on the table, shells pushed to the floors. And walls covered with great memorabilia. No matter what we have to eat, we always get a order of garlic cheese buffalo bread. and before we leave, we usually get one for the ride home. and the bigger restaurant will sell you the sour dough bread (disk shaped).

The dock is within walking distance to the town (where most of the shops and tours start), but there are also rides available - not sure the cost though.

If you are going to be there for at least 3 hours, a great way to see some of the island is to rent a golf cart or bikes. The Wrigley Memorial and Botanic Gardens are at the edge of the town, but suggest you get some sort of transport there (cart or bike).

We've done the submarine, but honestly, there wasn't alot to see and i think we drove in circles because we saw the same lawn chair several times.

Another great place to tour is the Casino, we've done all the tours and can recommend them all. It's the only way you can see inside the building - other than what you see if you were going to see a movie at night.

Hope you enjoy the Island.

I don't usually buy our shuttle brewed coffee but this week we are offering a dark roasted Papua New Guinea that is a really nice cup. I was not disappointed. [emoji3]

We are presently enjoying our rainfall in San Diego, but will have mostly sunny skies tomorrow for you, Bill! I would recommend renting a golf cart on Catalina, we had a lot of fun doing that. Butchart Gardens is amazing and is pretty year-round, it was nice having afternoon tea at the Dining Room. And having lived in the Bay Area, we look forward to getting back there in September. Have a wonderful cruise, and thanks for letting us sail along!
