Breakaway Vibe Question

This thread is very helpful. We require shade as well. The fact that every pair of lounge chairs has an umbrella is fantastic! I heard that the umbrellas can blow over if it gets too windy. What are the shade options if the umbrellas can't be opened?

Thank you!

Just returned from the Breakaway. We had Vibe passes for the week. Yes, there were a couple of people that did smoke at the bar. I did not smell the smoke and I was just a couple of lounger chairs away from the bar. The passes did sell out fast. We were in boarding group 5 and we went right to the guest services and we got number 50,51 and 52. If I heard correctly they had 74 available. I will post photos in the next day or two. Also it was never full.

As i said....Vibe was never full.....it was never half full. We spend our first two days at sea here. We did not spend time here while we were in port the three days. We also spent out last sea day here. They did take the umbrellas down because of the wind on the last day. The wind did die down later in the day. They came around with fruit kobobs, cold towels, and little frozen fruit pops a few times a day.

They had music playing, nice sailing/vacation music, not loud pounding music.

We went to the buffet to get lunch to bring back to Vibe and this is what was outside of our little Vibe world  packed in like sardines!!!

OMG Reno....Thank you so much for posting the pics! Glad you couldn't make them smaller. Just a few short hours ago hubby and I decided we will not be taking advantage of the Vibe but now I will show him the pics and see if we change our minds. We are not fans of the sun and if we did buy this I would really need the clam for protection. I would think they would only rent to the right amount of people there are clams.

Love the pics!!! :D

Ugh, is there excessive smoking at the bar in Vibe? Is it like the casino? I will not pay extra, and be bothered by smoke. It is just not fair! Get with it NCL, go with the majority of people, and ban smoking for good.

Bella

You would be better served paying for Vibe and dealing with the small amount of people that *might* be smoking, rather than hanging out by the pools...that is where most of the smoking we saw onboard was happening.

I was COMPLETELY bummed out reading these boards before we went, because people made it sound like you will get choked out with the smoke from the casino, etc....doom and gloom... I was preparing for the worst. Halfway through the cruise, it occurred to me that I never noticed the "terrible" smoke smell from the casino, or anywhere else for that matter. I can say that we weren't bothered by it one bit on our cruise on May 10th.

As for smoking in Vibe, it's so windy up there that I doubt any smells in the air stick around for long....lol

This is exactly the info I need before booking a cruise. I can't stand pool overcrowding. I love pool life on HAL ships. Very few people in or outside HAL pools.

But, I was looking at this ship as a fun cruise for my nephew.

With as few passes available for Vibe, I'd be very worried that I'd be unable to get a couple and I would be extremely upset to be in a sardine situation throughout my cruise. My first cruise was a 3 or 4 night Carnival trip to Cozumel, and I had figured it's just the short cruises that had this issue.

I guess I'm trying to ask how high the risk of being stuck like a sardine would be?

Are all the cruises on this ship so packed?

This was my first time on NCL since the 80's. I think it is the way the pool area is set up on this ship (I don't know about other NCL ships). I have read on CC that alot of pople complain about the bad pool area set up. Most of the loungers around the pool area seem to be under the deck above so they are in the shade not sun. This is a night picture but you can see not much deck space around the pool area. There are many, many loungers on the deck above the pool.

Finding a cruise that will be fun for my nephew & enjoyable/relaxing for myself & mother seems difficult. Any suggestions? He's 14.

There is a lot for him to do on this ship, 4 slides (which looked really cool), rock climbing wall, rope course. mini golf, bowling alley, arcade. Not sure if you know, the Vibe is adult only, your nephew would not be able to go in the Vibe. If you are doing the Bermuda cruise you are only on the ship for 3 full days and in Bermuda for 3 full days. I think you will all be fine and have plenty to do, or not, on this ship with or without the Vibe. You can also try and get the Vibe pass for a day or two if available.

Oh my gosh. People need to chill! Most of the cruise is outside and most smokers try to be respectful. Some people act like they are are being forced to sit in a closed elevator with 5 smokers for a few hours. And if they ban smoking maybe they should ban drinking too. Don't try to tell me that drinking doesn't hurt anyone else because that's just not true. I would have to bet that at least 95% of the ship is non smoking, just be happy and have another drink, then the smoke might not bother you so much.

Truly depends upon a persons sensitivity to second had smoke. I know since I do have allergies, even if I come in contact with a person who is a smoker and has the smell of smoke it truly bothers me. You must be a smoker as you are defending smoking which is so dangerous for your health and those around you- People in my family have had smoking related illnesses and deaths, so no denying cancer, heart disease and pulmonary disease are caused by smoking. Asthma caused by second hand smoke. Hope that you and your loved one's discontinue smoking soon.

At least the OP's question was answered before his/her thread got turned into a debate. Smh

They've probably unfollowed their own thread by now.

Might as well throw in how the sun will kill many of us off, so we better just stay indoors throughout the cruise. Oh, and food, better not indulge in all the good eating on the cruise b/c that can also lead to our early deaths.

I wanna live while I'm living. Can't enjoy life once I'm gone. Gonna stay happy and fulfilled, and respect that we all have demons/flaws.

Good luck to us all in getting those Vibe passes & happy cruising!!!!

Oh, no, he's 14, would be off doing his teen thing.

I'm worried there won't be any Vibe passes available for myself and mother.

Are you flying to the port? Can you get to the port early...around 9:00ish.
